Steffich Gallery has an outstanding assortment of art. Everything from muted local nature works (to remind you of your visit to Salt Spring), to vintage Rock n Roll posters (to remind you-or your parents-of your wasted youth), to blow-your-socks-off pieces (so you can know who your real friends are).
Kaeli gives generous information and the best customer service (even if you’re just a wannabe customer). Enjoy some laughs and mutual inter-dimensional ponderings.

Friendly and professional. They seem to really care provide great advice. So rare these days. I have a Innuit Sculpture I acquired about 25 years ago. They immediately recognized it and the Artist, and were able to provide an evaluation range. All pro bono. I trust these people and will not hesitate to visit them when I am in the area.

This is an eclectic collection that includes rock and roll art - album covers, posters; amazing wooden sculpture/carving inspired by First Nations totem polls; intricate layered collage and oil painting; and wind sculptures by one of my favorite artists. I could not stop oohing and ahhing. the gallery manager Kaeli, was very engaging and informative. A must stop on your journey.

As a resident of Salt Spring, I can vouch for the excellent reputation of Steffich Fine Art. I’ve had two occasions to have art appraised there. The staff are friendly, professional and helpful. It’s a lovely space to enter and enjoy, whether or not you are looking to buy, or taking some time to enjoy the treasures on view.

On May 28, 2018 I came down from Port Hardy and took the ferry over to Salt Spring Island where I was staying for a couple of nights. At around 4:00 pm I tried to grab an early dinner at Auntie Pesto's Cafe, but was told that it would be open for guests at around 4:45 pm. I looked around the plaza a bit and walked into Steffichfineart. What quickly caught my attention was the the rock music content in the gallery. I saw this very impressive hard-cover book by rock photographer, Dee Lippingwell. This book, entitled First Three Songs...No Flash contained countless concert photographs of both headlining and lesser known bands spanning several decades. My only regret was that I did not buy it at the time. When I return there, I intend on buying it.
While in the gallery I met the owner, Matt Steffich. He was very friendly and showed me a number of rock gig poster exhibits which included original ticket stubs from concerts from the past. Major performing artists performed live for less than $10.00 a ticket in the distant past. Matt's history as a musician and appreciation of music made for a great conversation. Matt also explained how some of the non-music artwork in the gallery came into being and the time taken by the artists to complete the work.
I was very impressed with this gallery and will definitely return either later this year or next year. There are a number of galleries on Salt Spring Island. Matt's gallery was the one that impressed me the most, given its content and the manner in which Matt treated people whom came into the gallery. I would highly recommend this gallery to anyone visiting the island.

We enjoyed browsing the art work of local artists with a variety of paintings, sculpture, and pottery. We met one of the artists who explained the background of her own work as well as the other artists pieces in the gallery.

We saw a breath taking array of high end art. Really fine pieces at very high prices. Famous artists represented as well as some who should be famous. Definitely worth a visit and if you have the resources worth a purchase. We could easily have spent more time and will be back.

Step into the gallery and you are caught by wind sculptures, amazing indigenous pieces and art from many regions - photographs that feel like paintings. A must-see when you are on Salt Spring.
