This chapel would normally be deemed to be well off the beaten path. However, due to the Slipper Chapel (Basilica) next door being on the Pilgrim Trail, tens of thousands of people visit every year.
this modern chapel is therefore massive. it is built from wood and has a nice feeling of space throughout it.
The gardens are also good - apart from a large space having been set up not only with crosses to represent the stations of the cross, but massed ranks of bench seating that take away some of the spirituality of the palce.

The whole of this site, which really is "in the middle of nowhere" is one of the holiest places in the Christian Church, certainly in the United Kingdom. I believe anyone, even a none-believer, would feel that they are somewhere special as they move about this place and study its history.
As well as the Church of Reconciliation, which I am advised will seat 1000 worshippers in a building that is only just over 30 years old and looks like a farm building from the outside, there are three more chapels, an outdoor church, a café, gift shop and car park.
Every time I have visited at the weekend there has always been at least 5 coaches in the car park that have carried pilgrims from all over the United Kingdom to mid-day Mass.
On the site and the reason everything else is there, is the Slipper Chapel:- now the Roman Catholic National Shrine to Our Lady. This tiny building, built in the 13th century, is where early pilgrims would stop on their way to the holy ground at Little Walsingham and would wash their feet before walking the "Holy Mile" barefoot, to Walsingham with its Abbey and Friary. This had continued from 1061, when a local girl had a vision (or visions) of Mary the Mother of Jesus. The pilgrimages continued for 300 years until the dissolution of the Monasteries under the reign of Henry VIII.
The pilgrimages ceased until in 1897, when the Slipper Chapel having been bought and renovated by a newly converted Roman Catholic lady, was re-dedicated with great ceremony following a pilgrimage by 10 000 pilgrims who walked the 40+ miles from Kings Lynn. If you visit, look for the memorial to Charlotte Boyd the lady who restored the Slipper Chapel.
On the site there is an excellent café, toilets, gift shop and car park; PLUS a very warm welcome from everyone who works there!
As well as the beauty of the artefacts and buildings, the tranquillity, the feeling of Holiness and solitude:- the feeling that you are somewhere really special is palpable. Do visit this incredible, wonderful and above all, holy place.
