    Avoid the scammers
Very nice place, different experience you will remember for the rest of your life. There is a second crater which requires a 2.5 km walk, the the main one can be accessible from vehicles. The second crater doesn't require a guide, but the locals will force you to have one, tell you have been there before. Entrance for local 3$, Foreigners 30$. Crazy!

Some bitter sweet experience at Tangkuban Perahu
Magnificent views but entrance fee is overpriced for foreigner . Beware of park tour guide n ornament sellers that can "do hard selling", they may present themselves as friends of your hired driver. Never accept their offer to assist you taking photos as free service unless you are prepared to pay tip or buy something from them . Don't expect volunteering services there .

    Nice view and location.BUT
The view was astonish!to be on an active volcano make the trip worth it. BUT here come the negative part of it. 1.Entrance fee for foreigner is WAY WAY high at 200k (weekday) and 300k (weekend). Local pay at only 20k/30k. The authority need to do something to make the fee more friendly. 2.We were basically outnumbered by the street seller and photographer. You will have the sense that you will be "harass" by them. They dont easily take no for an answer. 3.The key chain they sell is expensive compare to the same you can get at the city. What spoil the experience is they will offer you in the currency of where you are from.Somewhat i feel we were profiled the moment we exited from our transport. Not a good experience. Well the view and the location is all that make experience worth. I wonder whether the authority will step in to control the street seller and photographer.witness a group of tourist were swarmed by them and they pestered him to buy when he decided to buy 1 souvenier from the 1st person.

Just few meter from parking ground, make it convenient to elderly. Better visit before noon to avoid fog, and watch out for rainy season since the wind is strong and cold.
Somehow the souvenir's peddlers quite annoying but they offer help taking picture and some guidance for free. If you decide to buy souvenirs from them to repay their help, make sure to bid for the price that make sense to you.

The view on this location is amazing. That's it. It is stop right there.
For those who will visit this place, please be aware of 'smooth-owe a favor-scam' by jewelry seller. Their numbers are unbelievably a lot, almost equal with the number of visitor to this place.
They would offer to take picture for you with professional instruction on how and where to pose.
Long story short, he will follow you and at the end you will feel 'owe them a favour'.
As generosity one would offer some money for their 'favour' but they will smoothly reject your money and ask you to buy their jewelry with very HIGH price.

If your are kindhearted or cannot stand the feeling of 'owing a favour' to somebody, please do not interact with this humble-scam in this area.

Took your own picture with friends or other visitor. Never owe anything to these sellers.

Hope this story help whoever want to visit this place to avoid engaging with this seller.

The crater itself is impressive and we enjoyed taking photos and learning about its history. However, the experience was dampened by frankly irritating salesmen swarming us at every turn asking us to buy their goods. They would literally follow us down every path and if you stopped for even a moment, 3-4 of them would descend on you like vultures. One even followed us for 15-20 minutes before we had to tell him numerous times we did not want his services.

By far the worst part of this experience was the hot spring tour. We paid an up front fee at the OFFICIAL service desk for a local tour guide named Dedi to take us down. We were flanked by 2 other men who wanted us to buy their goods. They initially started off very friendly and informative.

Once we ended up at the hot spring, some locals began giving us a clay massage which we were initially told by Dedi was part of the tour price initially paid.
In the middle of the massage (which lasted 5 minutes), the locals began demanding ridiculous prices upwards of 300k IDR ($15-20 per person!) We were horrified by this and asked them to stop as we did not even consent in the first place. They insisted that we could do a bank transfer or we could be guided to a local ATM to withdraw the money. Once we told them we would not be coerced into giving extra money, Dedi and the other guides became cold and guided us back to our car without another word. They were clearly in on this money making scheme and were disappointed we would not be pressured into being scammed.

The hot spring itself was an interesting experience and the water felt nice, however the experience was soured by the greed of the locals. We understand they need to make money but we did not appreciate being preyed on in such a manner as a family. If the price was told up front, we would be more than happy to oblige and would even give a tip, however the lack of transparency and being treated like a dollar sign was not a good experience.

Hi all,

This experience is to die for however please do note that’s there are 2 different prices at the entrance. We went today there and were amazed to see that tourist must pay 300.000 RP whilst locals 30.000 RP. I was shocked to see such a massive difference between tourists and locals entrance fee!
In addition to that, we were told that if we want to get down to Kawah Domas we had to pay another 150.000 RP with a local guide.
Eventually we booked the giude just to realise later that he wanted as well a tip. We gave him about 80.000 RP but he was very disappointed with our tip!

So, please note that if you book the ticket to get down to the domas crater the guid expect a massive tip. This was pretty disappointing despite the incredible view you get once at the volcano.

My first experience going to volcano area and having live active volcano view. Been there at 10.30 am. Super nice view. Even thought I'm asthma sufferers, I can't really smell sulfur gas and we enjoyed the moment. Make sure bring your camera or phone to keep the moment. For sure, this place need a jacket if you coming early and for ladies, no high heels ya.

Somehow the souvenir's peddlers quite annoying but they offer help taking our picture for free. They have good skills to take beautiful picture. I just buy the souvenirs to repay their help, but definitely after bid more discount and getting the things with reasonable price.

Attraction was terrible value for foreigners with the hefty 300,000 admission fee to drive up to the parking lot close to the crater uphill. Upon arrival , you will be arriving at a tout ‘s paradise with all sorts of touts. From parking (although , u pay what you wish: (2000-5000 is ideal, don’t pay anything more) as well as touts trying to suggest you on what to do and disrupt your experience which is annoying. For such a hefty price , you thought you will be enjoying a good experience but no , instead this is what you would be met with. Avoid this place at all costs. ONLY recommended if you are a local as the local rate is much cheaper.
