Ruins of an ancient hamlet lie on the side of the hill slightly north of Penzance. There is a nice little car park and toilets by the road at the foot of the hill. An amazing view of the coast of Penzance awaits you once you reach the ruins.

Chysauster Ancient Village is a very interesting old site. There are many signs explaining the site and what may have happened when people lived here. It's also beautiful when all the flowers are blooming. We were there in August, and there were wild flowers everywhere. I will say it is a pretty good hike to get to the sight. It's... More

This ancient site might be in the middle of no where but it is well worth a visit. A small car park at the end of what seems like an endless track, before a short walk to this interesting site.

Not far from Penzance, the Chysauster Ancient Village is well worth the trek off the B3311. You take the fork in the road at Badgers Cross and head down the small lane for about 1-2 miles. The road is narrow in places so be careful of oncoming traffic and passing by farms. There is a nice little car park at... More

I took the kids here while D visited something 'more interesting' (her words not mine!). We loved it here. Very helpful staff and plenty of signage to explain things. The boys loved it, their imaginations were running riot. Well worth a visit.

Fantastic site where you can feel the years roll back. Amazing to work out the layout of the houses and rooms - the guide book was invaluable for this. We spent a good two hours walking around the site, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Look forward to visiting again when more excavation has taken place. Visitors should be aware that the... More

Not enough signage to know what you are looking at, £8.40 wasted (£4.20 each) to walk around some poorly maintained houses. Would have been £2.99 to buy the book as well. With lack of signage and gardener who left this strimer out for a trip hazard. Came away feeling ripped off. Such a shame as we love a good ruin.

Came thinking it was neolithic but is actually roman. Small parking area so was difficult as busy. Small shop and assistant after a long walk. Further uphill walk to the site. A few small placards explaining the site. The site is made up of 9 ruined houses, some more ruined than others. You can make out the variety of rooms... More
