The Coral garden we were taken to was a coral graveyard. So much has been damaged. There is no control on the amount of people visiting and what they’re doing. People just walking across and damaging them. It’s disgusting to see. The companies bringing these people just care about the money. Shame

Don't listen to the other reviewers saying this reef is beautiful and healthy, they are clearly ignorant novices. I have been to many reefs across South East Asia and this one is very badly damaged, tourist boats dropping their anchors, pollution from nearby settlements, and likely a myriad of other factors have destroyed the majority of this reef. You have to swim past huge swathes of dead coral fragments to find pieces of life and there is very few fish. It was quite distressing seeing the level of destruction and how some people now consider this normal.

Do not bother coming here for a snorkel as the coral got smashed in last years super typhoon. They still want to take you here but do not bother as there are still much better snorkelling nearby.

Trips around Coron Island take you primarily to various ‘coral gardens’ on the north coast of the island and Siete Pescados which, unfortuntely, are getting rapidly ruined both by tourists (some of whom touch and even walk on the corals which completely destroys them!) and boats throwing their anchors into them so most are dead here! I think the one we went to was Smith coral garden that was disappointing thus the low rating above.
For a better experience ask specifically to go to the Malwawey reef (that was much better) on the west coast of the small island opposite the beaches (beach 91, Sunset) visited on these trips, or Balinsasayew (on the south east coast of Uson island) that I was told is even better.
Further afield Lusong Reef (included in the wrecks and reefs tour) is beautiful but is a longer trip of about 1 and a half hours to get there. Or head to the islands off the far north west coast that are less busy. (See other reviews)
Whichever corals you visit respect these living organisms and do not touch or stand on them!

I used to snorkle in Viet Nam, Thailand, Malaysia & Indonesia but here is almost the best place to see coral. There are many kinds of coral with different color & all of them still alive. It's awesome. I saw a huge Nemo haha. Must place to go when you come to Coron

The area is so rich in it's marine habitat. Snorkeling the circumference of the area provides guests with an array of natural wonders- fish, corals in all shapes, sized & colors grace the seabed, I almost freaked out when I saw steel fish on docked on the corals thinking it was sea urchins, but mind you there's a lot of them sitting on the seabed, I asked our tour guide if they will be clashing with us, our guide just smiled & said no they can't as we're too high to be reached & the're hundreds of feet apart from us...because the water is so clear, one will think they're just couples of feet away...overall, it also a pleasant view to see & explore if you're a lover of marine sanctuary like me.

Very pretty, and good for timid swimmers as there are breaks between the coral groups w/water less than 6 feet deep. Nemo says hi!

We went snorkeling here as part of a tour. The sea was rough however the coral was in great shape and well worth the experience.

If you wanna do snorkel you might wanna choose which coral garden you go . some have much more to see then others . the coral garden near the japanese wreck was disaapointing . others nearby the twin lagoon and other areas were more colorful and more fishes.

It was important that we had a guide who swam and snorkeled with us especially when we noticed an undercurrent! He made sure we were always wearing life jackets, kept an eye on us and pulled as back closer to the boat when needed. We booked our tour with guide through the hotel Two Seasons Bayside Coron.
The underwater garden had a beautiful variety of corals and fish. We heard some of the storms damaged the corals... but we’re hopeful they can recover to regain their more vibrant colors.

We'll on a Windstar cruise, arriving at 7:30am and departing at 3pm that same day! We'd like to snorkel at Coral Garden, but only see "full-day" tours. Do we need a "tour" ~ or is it possible to get to Coral Garden on our own?

Здравствуйте, подскажите где находится Coral Garden - около острова Lusong (т.е. Lusong Coral Garden) или Sangat (т.е. Sangat Coral Garden) или еще где?
Written January 18, 2017

Where exactly is coral garden, Google maps places it off the west coast of Africa. Is it by coron island? How long a boat journey from Coron?
Written September 7, 2016
It is indeed by Coron Island (North Philippines). The boat journey is no more than 30 minutes from Coron proper.

What is the best time of the year for snorkelling
Written May 26, 2016
Visited the place two weeks ago...May 15, 2016..guides will tell you to be careful about and sea urchins etc, but according to them March isn't the season for Jellyfish.
I believe snorkelling is great all year round..its just that some months you will have more of the jellyfish. Maybe avoid the rainy season too (July and August)

3-6ft. There are deeper areas if you are going to snorkel away from the shore.
