The famous pomegranate fountain in the courtyard and the frescoes of the portico are of an extraordinary expressive power. Here are two reasons for this apparently humble building to be one of the most significant and fascinating castles of the Aosta Valley. Rebuilt at the end of the fourteenth century, after the Challant family bought it, its magnificent halls and rooms were conceived by George of Challant in the late fifteenth and early sixteenth century, at the turn between the last splendours of the Middle Ages and the innovations of the Renaissance. Thanks to the restoration of late nineteenth century all the richness of the original paintings and furniture has come to us in perfect conditions.

Lovely decorated castle, definitely worth a visit. Only guided visits are allowed and guide speaks Italian. Guide did give abstract in English and the frescoes and inventory of the castle are beautiful.

Loved it! It was cold, guide was taking the tour in Italian language, but he pointed out few things in English special for us, which was very nice. Frescoes were wonderful and well preserved. Couldn't believe they so old! enjoyed every minute of 1hour tour!

Very nice caste with a lot of frescos. I recommend to visit in conjunction with the Verres castle because they are historically connected somehow and they are really close each other. Tour guide very professional providing a lot of interesting historical details.

The castle is very well preserved and lovely. You have to take the tour with a guide and only Italian guides available. It would have been more interesting if we understood Italian to get a deeper understand of the history. English brochures were provided. It...More
