We took the Heritage tour, and the guides on board did a very good job explaining the south Saskatchewan prairies and how the communities and farming have evolved. There are great views of the wide open prairie and skies, and good chances you will see deer, hawks, and other critters. We would like to return and try one of the specialty dinner tours.
Admission to the prairie museum in Ogema is included, which adds to the good value of your ticket.
There is a bar cart and toilet on board, and the railway plans improvements to turn the baggage car into a full bar car.
It was a hot day but the ceiling fans and open windows were effective in making the ride comfortable.
We brought a picnic lunch and enjoyed in in the little park adjacent to the station. It would be nice if there was ice cream or snacks available for sale in the station or on the train.

It would be awesome if on your website when booking it would mention there is a free admission to the museum with your tickets. We would of made a day of it if we had known.
Also highlighting some of ogema’s businesses would be great, like the ice cream shop etc.
Also the grounds around the train station are beautiful and great for a picnic but didn’t know that either until we arrived

Ogema Train Ride and Museum have been on my bucket list for years and we finally got there Aug 24, 2024. The Museum is HUGE - many buildings and a lot of old equipment. The Mayor of Ogema was the commentator on the the train ride to Horizon SK - there were several young families that enjoyed the robbery and seeing the workings of an old wood grain elevator in Horizon. Very impressed!!

My wife and I took my parents on the train ride which departed from Ogema and landed in Horizon for the “Texas Style BBQ “
(which was absolutely delicious ) and then returned to Ogema. The duration of the tour was around 3 hours.
Also something to note is if you arrive early to the train station, get your ticket and that will give you free admission to the museum that’s a couple blocks away which is definitely worth checking out if you have time.
Really cool experience for a first time train rider.

Fabulous tour and history lesson on the small Saskatchewan town of Ogema and the history of the train itself; the strength and commitment of a small community to keep this tour in operation. I highly recommend. I have been on the tour twice and will definitely go again.

Because it was 34°C, we chose to sit in the last car that was open with just a few tables and chairs. The breeze went through from side to side and made the trip most enjoyable. We learned so much about the residents of Ogema Pulling together to get this up and running in 2010. It’s very impressive for a small community. The museum was fantastic as well although we could have spent a whole day there. There was so much to see. Congratulations Ogema! Well done!

It was ok . We couldn’t hear the guy talking at all just before getting on the train when he was explaining stuff . The bathrooms here messy and dirty and no soap and garbages were over flowing . There was no hand sanitizer anywheres . Only one option for coolers in bar car . The woman talking while on trip didn’t have her facts straight . But it was a ok ride .

Hi renaj, thanks for the feedback. The washrooms are cleaned and stocked each morning, but sometimes they can fall behind. This is a good reminder on the the diligence required on busy weekends! Drink options can vary on each ride, but that's noted as well.
I am surprised about your comment regarding the factual correctness of the commentary. Carol doubles as a history buff/local legend in the area involved since Day 1 of the train tours and beyond. We'd be happy to discuss further or answer any question - you can reach out to us directly if you like. Thanks again for joining us!

The whole experience was very well done. The train is very neat and our hosts were lovely. The food was good and the portions are generous. Beer, pop and water are available on the train. It is warm on the train if it is warm outside.
You will need your own hand sanitizer.

The determination of a small community shines brightly in Ogema. Proud to live in SK with you. Train ride was great, Elevator history is great. Conductor and tour guide are fabulous. Love to see how vibrant Ogema is. Definitely recommend for everyone to make a day trip to experience this lovely ride and community.

It depends on which tour you book. They have different names and some are just the train ride, some offer lunch, some have supper. Check out their website for the different tours and book the one that has the things you would like to do or see. They all are very good. Drinks, including beer are available for purchase on the train. There is a gift shop at the station.
