We visited Lake Bratan as part of a day tour to several temples. Ulu Dana was noisy & pretty much all we could hear was the whooping sound of people on speed boats on the lake. There were also ‘petting’ animals and a snake you could have your picture taken with. Exploitative, unethical & horribly touristy. We left pretty quickly.

This was our last stop after spending the day at the waterfalls, rice fields and lakes.
It was a big disappointment. We shuffled along with the crowds (coach loads) who only seemed to be there to get the perfect Instagram picture, rather than enjoy the experience. It was a nice view but not worth the 175,000 entrance fee and parking charge.
If you're short of time, I would skip it and save your money, or get there very early.

Holy place to visit. Very crowded. Pretty scenery. Good to go with a guide so they would explain the culture and tradition.

Pros:
-The view of the hills surrounding the lake create nice views, especially if the clouds are covering the hills
-Located in Bedugul city so no need for an extra transport
-Easy to combine with Ulun Danu Bratan Temple.
Cons:
-Many tourists are in the area so expect bloggers, vloggers, instagrammers and other photographers.
-The area is 5-6 degrees colder than south Bali so bring a light jacket or coat.

Temple by the lake. Beautiful scenery and peaceful. Can get crowded during peak time. But the ground is big enough to not feel too crowded. Not far from here, you can also visit the view points for the twin lakes. Lovely view.

Well worth a visit. The temple is set out over the lake surrounded by beautifully manicured gardens containing alot of different animal figurines. Lots of places to capture great photos. Bedugul district grows strawberries so we bought some from the locals along with fresh passion fruits and peanuts.

Well worth a visit, but do a daytrip. My visit was too short and was an add on from my Resort. I'd book my own driver next time and also go on a boat on the lake if available

Tuesday 10th September, we had finished our lunch at Puri Candkruring and we walked through the gardens to the shores of this beautiful lake.
It was from here that we picked up our small wooden boat for our journey down the Lake to the sacred Ulun Danu Bratan Temple, the Guardian of the lake.
It was a gentle 20 minute journey on the Lake to the Temple, it was gentle for us the passengers, the boatman paddled us all the way, no outboard engine or motor. It was a delightful way to relax and enjoy the amazing scenery and tranquillity of the Lake.
Occasionally the tranquillity was broken by the screams of other tourists enjoying a speedboat ride around the Lake, all good fun.
Our most knowledgeable Guide, Wayan, informed us that at its deepest the lake is 35 metres deep. It is also about 1,239 metres above sea level and is the second largest lake in Bali. It is situated near to Mount Bratan and Mount Catur.
