About
The vineyard was planted in 1999, comprising Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. In 2014, the Parkinson family bought the vineyard and proceeded to rejuvenate the vines and the brand. Located in the beautiful seaside town of Goolwa on South Australia’s magnificent Fleurieu Peninsula, Finniss River Vineyard has made a new home at Goolwa Cellar Door. GCD offers tastings of our internationally acclaimed, multi-award winning FRV range, along with comparative tastings of other regions and styles of wine to entice your pallet. Their friendly and knowledgeable staff provide an open, welcoming, and fun experience to increase your wine appreciation. You won’t find snobbery here, just passion.

This is a cellar door where you can taste the wine before buying a bottle. Their platters are very good also.
Sadly I understand they are closing because the council allowed a popup right on the beach. All our traders hang on through the winter waiting for the summer trade. This has been denied to them by predatory popup being allowed. These popups do not have to pay rent all winter. SAD

Finniss River is a local SA boutique winery with a cellar door outlet on Beach Rd Christies Beach. The often have live music and a great atmosphere. The staff are friendly and accommodating , whether you are meeting friends or just having a quiet drink with your significant other it is a top spot. Choose from sitting out on the outside deck or inside you can enjoy a variety of their boutique wines on site by the glass or buy a bottle to take home. They also serve beer and softdrinks on site and for $25 you can have an amazing cheese platter to accompany your favourite tipple. Non drinkers can have a freshly brewed coffee of cappuccino and enjoy the great views and atmosphere. Whether you are a local or passing through make sure you stop for a visit and sample the offerings.

Going back for Summer

Positive is that it is close to work, easy to park. Negative - toilet outside.
Besides that, great place to taste Finniss River wines, which are quite nice.
Pretty small so book if you have a large group and planning to stay. Good deal for $25 - 2 glasses of wine and a large pizza from shop down road. Friday night busy with a DJ playing some pretty good music.
Looking forward to sitting outside on veranda with a chardonnay.
