In the courtyard before entering is a statue of a big crow because cuervo in Spanish means crow. And Joseph in Spanish is Jose so I guess Jose Cuervo could be called Joe Crow in English, right??? This tour starts off with a video subtitled in English and then I joined the English speaking group for the walk thru of the factory. Not only learned about the process of making tequila, also got to make tastings along the way. From seeing agave plants to the barrels to bottles, the tour took about an hour and it was all good. Jose Cuervo has been making tequila here for over 200 years.

The three of us drove to Tequila from Guadalajara in just under an hour on a smooth paved highway (with tolls!) and arrived in the surprisingly rustic town of Tequila with its narrow cobblestone roads. We picked this Jose Cuervo tour, because it was central and about to start. To be honest, it was more entertaining than I had anticipated. We bought the 1-hour tour without the tasting. The tour is what you would expect; see the process step by step; but we were able to taste a bit of their tequila along the way. If you want more intensive tasting experience, you could buy the more expensive ticket, but it wasn't necessary for us. I do recommend the tour. It seems a bit of a waste if you are in the town of Tequila and you don't do one of the factory tours!

La Rojena is conveniently located in the center of town. there are 2 prices. one price is for the tour only, and the other, they include tasting as you go through the distillery. you start with a movie which has English subtitles, then progress through the distillery and the process, which is very interesting. if you want to go to the fields, they and other distilleries can accommodate you. I learned they also make Mezcal and that there are a myriad to types of tequila. this tour is a winner!!

We did an hour Tequila tour and tasting in English. It started with a short promo video in Spanish with English subtitles, which were in white so were very hard to see to read. It’s a very sleek operation and tour from this top distillery but it is very busy. There were a large number of people on our tour which actually made it difficult to get around and lots of queuing for the various tastings, so I think it might be better to look for a smaller distillery tour.
