Today in Alte we almost missed this amazing little church. Once inside we saw the most awe inspiring baroque and rococo art work surrounding the altars. The guide tried to help inform us of the history of the church and pointed out the rare ‘...More

Nice little church and the center point of the small village of Alte. From here it's only a short walk to the 3 Fountains area.

Font área poor, needs something making of it but, sorry, port. have no idea. Disappointing yet so much potential as Alte is known for its folkgroup & cycling. Village dying, council need humf, not Port. "so what."

As so many Algarvian churches this is a small but beautiful building. As most churches here, the exterior belies the incredible interior. Well worth the one Euro admission. And they allow picture taking (no flash please).

Went to visit here while on a tour in Alte, but the church was closed for the time we had available. Dates back to the early history of the area and looked to be worth the 1 euro admission.

Church dates back to sixteenth century. Some of the chapels are decorated in gold leaf while the chapel of St Sebastian on right aisle are covered in multicoloured smooth tiles. Church is small but very beautiful & well worth the €1 entrance fee

The staff are really lovely and helpful. Just pay 1 euro and you're free to photograph the richly decorated interior of gorgeous tiles and painting. Recommend a visit.

A typical country church in baroque style with some blue tiled niches - all pay 1 EUR entrance fee- and an altar in the "box pyramid" style. Definitely part of your village itinerary.
