Visiting the Carnicerias Reales as a vegetarian may not sound ideal, but there's little trace of the butchery in the building previously - just a fine and fairly well-preserved building, nice & cool in the height of summer, which often hosts exhibitions by local painters....More

The old slaughterhouse has been very gently restored and now houses an exhibition space for local artists. With a very beautiful fountain int he courtyeard area, and breathtaking views over the aldarve from the window, this is a 'must visit'.
