RSPB Loch Garten Osprey Centre sits amidst the stunning Caledonian...

RSPB Loch Garten Osprey Centre sits amidst the stunning Caledonian pineforest, just a short walk from the shores of beautiful Loch Garten. The centre is open every day from April 1 to the first weekend in September, though the rest of the reserve is open all year round. It opens at 10am till 6.00pm, and last entry is at 5.00pm. There is a viewing area in the centre, with binoculars and telescopes to view the ospreys and other wildlife, plus live hi-definition CCTV pictures to give really good close up views of the birds on the nest. Red squirrels can often be seen on our feeders and a large array of small birds visit too. There are always knowledgeable and friendly staff and volunteers on hand to help you make the most of your visit and presentations on the previous year's osprey season are also given. There are activities and games for children both in the centre and on the walk up from the car park. The Osprey Centre shop stocks binoculars and telescopes, gifts, toys, cards, hot and cold drinks, ice creams and snacks. There are picnic benches and garden benches outside if the weather allows! Two beautiful woodland walks take you through magnificent pine forest to tranquil Loch Garten and Loch Mallachie - one accessed from the Osprey Centre car park and the other from the nearby Loch Mallachie car park.

Fantastic day out, staff very friendly and knowledgeable. It was great to see the Ospreys and woodpeckers. Also two little mice running backwards and forwards to the birds feeding bowl. The only downside was the toilets. I could not use them because of the smell, I totally understand about saving the environment but I would just recommend you make sure... More

Lovely to see the ospreys and their nests directly through the scopes and binoculars at the centre as well as on the television screens. Beautiful tranquil place. I have visited RSPB Loch Garten many many times! 100 plus. It is a beautiful and peaceful area all year round. If you have time, and it is open, visit the Osprey centre too. Remember that your entry payment goes to the RSPB, so well worth it. Why not become a member and visit as often as you wish and... More

Even in the car park there are thousands of birds, including the rare crested tit, walk a bit further to the osprey hide and there are red squirrels too. Take bird food and feed tiny little coal tits by hand- lovely !

Came here to have a lovely long walk on a winters day, and had read that you can hand feed birds in the car park. Had a bash and were delighted to feel how light these little creatures are. Then we walked through the forest and got lovely close up views of Crested Tits too.

Hi Sally, thank you for your review. It made me smile, as that's exactly what I always think every time a coal tit lands on my hand - and just how delicate their claws are too :-) We're delighted you enjoyed yourself and had such a memorable wildlife encounter. More

The staff are just amazing! They are very knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic about they're work. If you time it right you can see the Bird of Prey chicks in the nests via the live cam's. The shop sells a range of gifts, books and soft toys. There is also a hot drinks machine and some snacks.

Spent an afternoon here watching in awe at the Ospreys. Fantastic to see these birds in their natural habitat and safe from human harm. The staff were very friendly and very informative. Lots of other interesting birds to see.
