RSPB Loch Garten Osprey Centre sits amidst the stunning Caledonian...

RSPB Loch Garten Osprey Centre sits amidst the stunning Caledonian pineforest, just a short walk from the shores of beautiful Loch Garten. The centre is open every day from April 1 to the first weekend in September, though the rest of the reserve is open all year round. It opens at 10am till 6.00pm, and last entry is at 5.00pm. There is a viewing area in the centre, with binoculars and telescopes to view the ospreys and other wildlife, plus live hi-definition CCTV pictures to give really good close up views of the birds on the nest. Red squirrels can often be seen on our feeders and a large array of small birds visit too. There are always knowledgeable and friendly staff and volunteers on hand to help you make the most of your visit and presentations on the previous year's osprey season are also given. There are activities and games for children both in the centre and on the walk up from the car park. The Osprey Centre shop stocks binoculars and telescopes, gifts, toys, cards, hot and cold drinks, ice creams and snacks. There are picnic benches and garden benches outside if the weather allows! Two beautiful woodland walks take you through magnificent pine forest to tranquil Loch Garten and Loch Mallachie - one accessed from the Osprey Centre car park and the other from the nearby Loch Mallachie car park.

Exceptionally well done Osprey Centre. Amazing to see the Osprey and many other birds who frequent Loch Garten. Join the RSPB and visit as often for you like for free. Beautiful walk to the centre with stunning loch yards away

We had been hereabout 50 years ago when the Ospreys had first started breeding in the area. We knew what to expect. A good money spinner for the RSPB and a good introduction for the general public to birds in general. Good CCTV of the nest showing chicks and plenty of telescopes to use for 'live' viewing of the nest.... More

I was expecting a hide and a long wait for something to appear. I had no idea that Ospreys use the same nest year after year so this hide is built around the nest with permanent cameras for close ups. It was just amazing. Right in front of me was the mother osprey on a tree and to her left... More

We stopped by this RSPB reserve specifically to see the Ospreys and we weren't disappointed. EJ, the female, and Odin, the male were both about and EJ spent the whole time in the eyrie, while Odin flew off to hunt for his hungry brood. While we were there one of the staff - sorry, I don't know his name. He's... More

Not a RSPB member and don't intend to join but very happy to contribute through this visit and impressed by the facilities and the friendly staff. A very interesting couple of hours during a family holiday in the area.

I'm not a keen birdwatcher but thought I'd take a detour from the Speyside Way to go to RSPB. It was wonderful! It was exactly the right time to see two wonderfully ugly chicks (1 June) through binoculars and on the huge screens. And it's by Loch Garten, which is stunningly beautiful.

Enjoyed being able to see the Ospreys from the comfort of the cabin. Great voice of telescopes and binoculars to view both the Ospreys and the bird feeders just outside. Close up action of Woodpeckers but sadly no squirrels. Very knowledgeable staff and volunteers.
