We visited the cave today with no prebooked tickets. We arrived at 10.30, bought tickets for 3 euro and joined another 2 couples doing a tour. We always knew the tour would be in Spanish but fortunately for us the guide we had very generously...More

Fascinating cave system, we felt privileged to see this ancient art in its true environment. Amazing cave paintings and hand prints from 40,000 years ago. Although the tour was in Spanish, the guide made great efforts to make sure we understood the key points. It...More

One of the coolest things we did during our travels in Spain! The tour, while all in Spanish, was so detailed and thorough, I really felt that I learned a lot and had quite an experience. Just amazing that we could visit these 40,000-year-old cave...More

The caves were beautiful and the paintings were fascinating. However, we could not get an English speaking tour even though we booked well in advance. I don’t think there are any. And the guide was very rude and unhelpful. He said he would speak in...More

These caves are great, but there is no way to book an English tour, our experience was that there was no English guide, so much of the explanation was lost as the guide spoke very quickly in Spanish. You can buy a book for 10...More

We had a really nice experience in El Castillo and Monedas. We went with our children, and the guides are really nice to children and try do adapt the visit to them. The caves are well preserved and worth a visit!

Although the cave at Altamira is more famous; it is a replica. However, the Cave of El Castillo is the real thing. Guided tours take place in small groups and it is essential to book. The cave is very beautiful and contains the famous hand...More

I believe they were open approximate 9-5 but not sure. They do sell out and would suggest buying in advance. Biggest issue for us was not being able to find an English tour and we don’t speak Spanish

I suppose you can reserve. Don't know how. You really don't need reservations unless you want an English speaking guide. The caves are not all that crowded.
