When you arrive at the shipwreck viewing point it is very dissapointing. 1 tiny steel half cage where only 1 person at a time can view the shipwreck. Even then you have to lean right out to see most of the shipwreck.

Although there are a lot of tourists here, I still recommend this highly. If you go anywhere in Greece during the summer months you will find tons of tourists and shipwreck beach is no exception. The view from the top is truly like a postcard....More

We were lucky to be the first boat to arrive when we visited here so we got some great pictures without crowds.
This is definitely worth a visit but not a place you can stay at for too long. The beach is very pebbly and...More
The beach has a ship wreck and thats about it, lovely place but pebble beach, if it was sandy and easy to get in the water it would be perfect. Its one of those places you visit and say you've been.

When visiting Zakynthos this is a must see iconic landmark which is famous for its shipwreck. If you don't go you will have missed one of the major attractions on the Island. Looks lovely just like the post cards from a far distance. A closer...More
The post cards sell it as this 'amazing secluded' beach.
It couldn't be more wrong!

There are several places where you can get a boat. In more popular ones like Shipwreck or Blue caves the only possibility is an organized trip (and you can book it almost everywhere), but if you prefer exploring the island on your own you can you can rent a boat in many places on the island - I found one on the beach near my hotel in Lagans.

We booked through Nefis Travel, my Advise is book the first trip, it’s an early start, you’ll be picked up at 7.30am but we’ll worth it. You avoid the hoards of visitors and will be leaving the beach just as the huge boats arrive, some with 500 people on board! The boat used with Nefis hold approx 25 people and is just perfect. Highly recommend this company.
