Quaint little railway in a beautiful location

This little three foot guage railway uses Diesel engines to pull two carriages at a slow and steady pace about 6km down the line by the Suir river towards Waterford. On a fine day it's great fun especially for younger kids. They do Santa days and Halloween trips but booking is needed, ring to check if they are open before... More

Our visit coincided with a rotten, wet, September day and we were worried that the trip would be marred by the weather; however the friendly staff ensured that our two boys (2 and 5) really enjoyed their trip. We'd been on the railway before but it was the 2 yr old's first trip - he is train mad and the... More

My three girls really enjoyed the train ride on a lovely sunny day. Might not be so nice in the rain though as most of the carriages are open. There is currently construction of a new greenway alongside the train tracks so passengers should be aware that there is a lot of building materials etc on one side.

Can't resist a train ride even though had no children in tow. Lovely views along the river, good value tickets. There was Peppa pig and a Teddy bear for the children to meet on the day we visited plus colouring and activity sheets. Quaint cafe in a railway carriage, children's area plus second hand books, always a winner for me.... More

Situated just 10 min drive from Waterford city, the railway follows the river almost all the way back into the city. The journey takes about 45 min out and back and there are open and closed carriages to sit in. We took our 5 year old and 2 year old who both enjoyed the train despite the noise of engine... More

This is a lovely train ride on a quaint train along the river suir. It runs every hour and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The train is a bit loud and clanky so if your kids don't like loud noises then maybe this isn't for you but my 4 year old loved the ride especially when the train... More

When the kids are happy, her indoors is happy and when she is happy, I'm happy! Jokes aside, this is a great half day out for the kids particularly if the sun shines. There is ample parking, clean toilets, a play area for kid an a nice cafe in an old railway carriage. There is a small story board exhibit.... More

We drove from Dublin to go on this having seen good reviews. We were quite disappointed to be honest. We arrived as a train was about to go but my son needed to go to the toilet so we ran in...not particularly bothered if they left as we thought we were late anyway but they kept beeping us even though... This is a lovely way to spend an hour or two on a sunny afternoon with smaller children. We brought a picnic which the kids had on the train as we jaunted through the country side. The train does follow the river so there isn't much else to see but the kids enjoyed it - and that's what counts!! Free... More
