Very crowded in summer, Carcavelos is a beautiful and lively beach. Lots of bars, restaurants and surf schools. Not always easy to park.

It's a lovely beach with plenty of places selling refreshments too. But be warned that it gets very crowded during peak times and that the waters are very choppy, which can make it unsafe for young or unconfident swimmers.

Visited Lisbon in end of June 2018 and of course the trip wouldn't be complete without a visit to one of the most popular beaches in Lisbon. Absolutely stunning sandy beach in terms of visuals but good lord the water was freezing. Went in for...More

Wide, sandy beach close to lisbon city centre. You can reach Carcavelos beach by tram, heading from Cais do Sodre station. Journey takes around 20 min and it’s comfortable. You can find a lot of restaurants and bars close to the beach. Must see!!!:)

The beach is huge and very nice. It might not be the nicest town around, but the beach is awesome. Although there is a lot of people it seems empty. A lot of nice restaurants and bars along the path in back of the beach...More

There's always an attendant and if you can't identify her/him, choose a bed and they'll soon find you!

I strongly doubt it I have not seen any dog there, and I remember few posters. People walk small dogs on pedestrian pavement but not on beach. Saying that it’s a lot of kids and families. And dogs in Portugal are not as... More

Yes sure, you can find parking along seaside. I can’t say if it is gratis or with payment
