"Designing a golf course is my total expression. My golf game can only go on so long. But what I have learned can be put into a piece of ground and that will last beyond me." - Jack Nicklaus Golf at the Jack Nicklaus designed The Kinloch Club is often compared to the classic link courses in Scotland and Ireland. However, instead of traditional sea views, this world-class championship Par 72 course is positioned between panoramic views of Lake Taupo, New Zealand's largest fresh-water lake, and the natural beauty of rugged rural farmland. Ranked as New Zealand's number one golf course a select team of New Zealand Golf Professionals. The only Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course to be built in New Zealand, Kinloch showcases a design philosophy that aims to enhance the natural environment - allowing the surroundings of the stunning Taupo region to shape each hole. The Kinloch Club was voted in the top 10 new golf courses in the world by US Travel and Leisure golf magazine (the only course outside of North America to feature in that prestigious list). Although technically not a true links course, it cleverly merges aspects of both links and parkland course design. The Par 72 course is an eye-catching centrepiece in the dramatic New Zealand landscape overlooking Lake Taupo and provides a uniquely challenging course that has golf enthusiasts returning for more. Nicklaus uses natural features to enhance shot values so that golfers can work on every aspect of their game - an approach that has earned him an enviable reputation. Experienced golfers consider every hole at this 18-hole course to be a Signature hole, where a certain depth of mystery repeatedly defies players to find their best landing shots onto the green. Rugged bunkers are strewn across the course, adding to the challenge and provide a confronting picture as players tee off. The fairways are contoured and conditioned for ground play and possess New Zealand's finest drainage making it arguably the country's best all season course. To enhance the golf experience, The Lodge at Kinloch opened in January 2016, offering a luxury resort experience designed by multi-award winning Andrew Patterson of Patterson Architects. Perhaps New Zealand's best internationally known and published architect. The Lodge interiors have been masterfully designed by Virginia Fisher who is renowned for her work involving luxury lodges and hotels both in New Zealand and around the world. Patterson and Fisher have applied their formidable skills on the exterior and interior design creating expansive accommodation spaces of 1 and 2-bedroom villas. All feature stunning nature inspired designer elements including vista windows of the lake and course, huge log fireplaces, sensational marble bathrooms and secluded furnished terraces. A world-class restaurant using produce reared from the private 2000 ha owners estate adheres to the 'Estate to Plate' organic philosophy where possible, of course matched with New Zealand and worlds best wines. Complementing the sporting of the internationally recognised golf course is a resort offering excellent in-lodge and villa entertainment facilities, an onsite spa specialising in sporting therapeutic and organic wellness treatments, an awesome infinity pool (opening Spring 2016), a gym and tennis courts. The Lodge is also an unequaled new choice for weddings, conferences, private golf tournaments and very much more. The Kinloch Club Golf Course has an impressive array of facilities and services including a 3 tier grass tee practice area/range, putting and chipping green facilities, golf shop, fleet of electric carts, hire clubs and trundlers, on course PGA golf professionals and a Clubhouse restaurant and licenced bar. Both the golf course and the Clubhouse have been designed to stringent standards and specifications to meet the Jack Nicklaus design and international golfing requirements. Kinloch Club's course and facilities are open 7 days per week throughout the year.

A fantastic course and worthy of the rave reviews and rankings. If you can, it's worth playing twice because the first round is very much a learning experience

We were welcomed at the pro shop like old friends. We got a run down on the course which definitely helped the game and supplied with everything I could possibly need to enjoy the round ahead. Tom went out of his way to look after us and once I teed off, I was in for a great time. The course... More

Fantastic Jack Niklaus design course. I am a single hcp player but was eaten alive by this course. Great experience but do not expect to lower your hcp here.

Played kinloch in 50 kmh winds and rain and yet it was still enjoyable. Every hole provides a different challenge, but if you play well you can score well. Was made to feel welcome at the pro shop on arrival and it was a nice touch that they took the time to explain some of the challenges of the course,... More

The course was in brilliant shape. The design offers a challenge while testing your shot selection at all times. I highly recommend playing more than once.

We played on one of the worst days weather wise but the course was in great nick. It is now suitable for all golfing levels and the views were amazing - snow covered hills and the Lake made for some amazing picture opportunities. The service was exceptional - from the time we made the booking, we were made to feel... More

This Jack Nicklaus designed course is a serious test in beautiful surroundings. The course was in immaculate condition and the setting is great. The holes themselves are all individually stunning as well, though they do seem very much to blend into one another. The course is difficult and probably not going to offer a lot of enjoyment for high handicappers,... More

Arguably the strongest course in New Zealand but a great challenge. Not a course where you can get on the tee and just go for it. Several doglegs and penal rough areas. Undulating greens make placement all important. The wind will also have considerable influence on your score. Just a great golfing experience but not for the faint hearted.
