From the Forte you can enjoy a nice view of the beaches and of Vila Nova as well. It's a great place to enjoy the view and the coffees near by can provide a drink to enjoy the sunset.

We didn’t get inside the Fort but walked around it instead. And when leaving by boat to cross the river we had excellent views of the fortifications. It’s a major feature of this lovely, small town and is of huge historical interest.

The castle is privately owned so goodness only knows how you get to see inside! There is a lovely square next to it - avoid the children's entertainer (unless you find a man in his pants suitable children's entertainment - not joking!). The castle sits...More

Unfortunately the castle is privately owned, so there is no public access, but there is a nice square outside, restaurants nearby, and it is a good focal point for photographs, as it is adjacent to the sea / river estuary. Benches in the square provide...More
