Beautiful lake

A nice place to relax. You can also take a boat trip on the lake and see how water chestnuts are grown.

It takes about 3 hours to complete the tour. Lots of traditional Chinese building. A good place to learn history about China Communist Party. Travelers have to pay 80RMB to enter this place.

What a place to find that the birth of the Communist Party started here on a boat in 1921. The boat is the not the actual one but a replica. However you can sense the history just by being near it and walking around the South lake and all the buildings surrounding it. Just a shame that Jiaxing suffers a... More

If the skies are blue, and haze-free (a big if!) then South Lake is very enjoyable and beautiful. It's much smaller than the nearby and more famous West Lake, but very similar - e.g. take a boat to the small island in the middle of the lake; visit temples on the perimeter, etc, etc. I prefer West Lake, but both... This is a little lake with a little boat, a little building with a little of communist party history. Nothing much fancy. I went there a lot as a child, just because it is a historical site for the first Chinese communist party's national meeting. It used to be better since the water quality were, now, just not worth too... More

In Chinese name these lake called "Nanhu" lake. There are ferry circle services around the park. A 5 or 6 tall Chinese pagoda & bridge style. Some Chinese rooftop decorate style building and willows tree around the lake. Great day out visit.

Very beautiful scenery in this area with opportunities to walk, bike ride or hop on a boat. Definitely worth a visit.

A really lovely place. Just be aware that it can be quite confusing where to actually catch the boat out to the island - we did a lot of walking to and fro, even with my Chinese friend. There is a sweet little tea shop on the smaller island you can walk over to that served quite delicious pizza and... More
