I have stayed in a lot of manor houses, castles, estates etc but Amberley Castle is at the top of my list. You enter by driving up the long narrow road and over what used to be a moat (now a croquet lawn) through the porticus into the walled inner court. They have ample parking outside the wall. The rooms... More

The last time my husband and I were at Amberley Castle was about 12 years ago when we had a gorgeous lobster dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary and the birth of our daughter. So, we decided to return for a festive afternoon tea to celebrate my 50th Birthday. We were led to the sofas in the lounge next to... More

We had been given a voucher for cream tea for two at Amberley Castle as a birthday present and were very much looking forward to it. We arrived on time for our afternoon booking and were shown into a lovely room where we were sat on two large sofas with a table between us in front of a log fire.... More

Ancient building and a bit tricky to navigate. Not recommended for the frail. Afternoon tea nothing special ! Dinner was excellent but wines ( by the glass , Chardonnay and Barolo ) probably from opened bottles and expensive for the quality. Also quantity in glass somewhat parsimonious! Breakfast disappointing with tough bacon, pre cocked sausages and cold plates. Room (... More

Idilic property but let down by the food. Luncheon- I don't think it's possible to serve smaller portions. The venison was cut so thin it actually stuck to the plate and you could see the plate thro it. Didn't even taste of meat yet alone venison. All the courses minuscule and I don't understand why they don't serve larger portions... More

Had afternoon tea with the fsmily. We were given a lounge to ourselves with a warming log fire. Choice of at least seven types of tea. We each tried something different and the waiter knew each tea which was poured for us. We were left after the main part of the tea was placed on the table and could freely... More

Having been to the Castle several years ago, we thought it time to go again. We had a 3-course lunch in the restaurant with coffee and petit fours served in one of the gorgeous sitting rooms with a beautiful log fire and traditional Christmas decorations. The ambience is amazing and the food was absolutely first class. Having had lunch recently... More

Amberley castle is a stunning place, absolutely beautiful. The room was magnificent. The staff friendly and attentive. We had booked here to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary, however considering £740 it cost us for one night plus dinner and breakfast we came away feeling very disappointed. The food was minuscule, tasty but not enough of it, our meal included "sprout... More

Portion sizes ridiculously small and not well cooked. We had duck with skin on that had hardly seen the heat. Wine flight started after the first course so left you wondeing when you would get a drink. Too much time between courses, miniscule amounts of veg. Beautiful place but food poor, except for breakfast which was great.
