Nice path down to a set of steep steps down to the castle. You will need a certain amount of fitness to do this castle. Very picturesque and dog friendly place. Worth a visit and not expensive

Has to be one of my very favourite Scottish castles. Dunnottar is a true gem. From arriving at the car park (which does get very busy) to walking the longish path to the castle entrance builds up the 'excitement'. You see the castle in the...More

Great hike up to the castle from Stonehaven and you can see the War Memorial along the way. Information about the castle is well-presented and you feel like you learn a lot. Great experience.

Dunnottar castle is not for the faint hearted nor is it for less able bodied people but once you have negotiated the endless steps to get there it is well worth the effort. In its heyday it would have been an incredible fortress and almost...More

Wow! What a view! This has to be one of the most dramatic castles in Scotland. The way it is perched on a cliff offers the most phenomenal view. There are a lot of stairs, but it is worth the climb. Definitely, definitely worth going....More

Walked to this stunning castle from Stonehaven along the coastal footpath, great views along the path and of course stunning views to the castle. A must do walk to those thinking of doing it!

The Dunnottar Castle site is a must see. The panoramic views are unbelievable. The castle is well preserved but not intact. However, a visit here should be for the immense views. I would recommend visiting Dunnottar Castle on a rainless day as there are many...More

Visiting this place is quite an experience. You have free parking just 1/2 km before the castle and then you walk down - up to the castle which is very tactically placed on a small hillock. There is a small coffee shop which has good...More

It’s quite a walk from the town, also the access involves lots of outdoor stairs down cliffs and up again. I use a walking-stick so can no longer visit. Shame, because it is fascinating.
