To find something similar to the Niagara in Iceland was an extraordinary surprise to us. It is a good spot to end the golden circle trip. It's not so easy to spot from the car park, look for a tiny direction sign near the toilet.

Visited here in March 2016. I do advise good boots and crampons to visit though not necessary with a light step and concentration. I did see a couple of people slip over! The falls themselves are incredible, on a good clear sunny day, the falls...More

"How Big How Blue How Beautiful" as the Florence song said. This may apply to almost all Iceland in the winter. All place look like a perfect movie set. Gullfoss is stunning and it also the coldest place in Iceland for me, I think it...More

This was beautiful as a unique landscape more than a waterfall. I think the split tier and the distance between the upper and lower falls, along with the fact that mostly it was frozen, made it more of a beautiful icy sculptured landscape and less...More

The views of the waterfall in Gullfoss literally bring you to another level. Spectacular and magnificent from all angles. This place is popular with tourists, hence is rather packed with people. A great place for photo definitely. A must must visit for sure.

There's a little climb up to get a really good view but well worth it. It's hard to get your head round just how such a large area of moving water can be so frozen. Beautiful colours, lovely clean air. A must when visiting Iceland...More

Where are you staying? In which town? The Golden Circle is a must-see and it certainly is worth a detour.

We were on the Golden Circle EXPRESS tour which gave us 45 minutes there in very extreme weather. If the weather had been clear, we'd have wanted longer (not least to walk down the route that was closed on the day we were... More
