This place will take you to the old times when early settlers stared their community living, culture. Nice place to hangout with family and kids. When we went there their annual fair was going on. Many local artists, craftsmen and bakers had stalls there we got a beautiful painting from there

Settlers Village in Bobcaygeon presents interesting programming and events throughout the summer. Settlers Days in June is the best time to visit with lots of exhibits and activities for the whole family, but it is worth a visit all summer long to see the permanant displays and old buildings. And their Wednesday night films are usually worth dropping by for.

Settlers' or pioneer villages are fairly typical across Canada to show the living and working conditions of the hardy people who opened up the land to agriculture and build the communities we see today. Sometimes there is a sense that if you have visited one you have visited them all. However, what I really enjoyed about Kawartha Settlers' Village, was the personal story it told of the families of the Bobcaygeon area who built, lived and worked in these buildings and whose descendants live in Bobcaygeon today. We met some of those descendants and chatted with them. It is wonderful to see the continuity with the history of the area. The day we visited there were clog dancers rehearsing, storytelling for a children's camp and volunteers happy to explain or research connections to the founding families. I recommend you visit the settlers' village and then go on to the Boyd Heritage museum to learn more of the story.

A small settlers' village of about 20 buildings, most of them moved from nearby, but some of them built from scratch. Some of the buildings are treated as craft areas, or artifact collection housing.

Some of the buildings were repurposed, eg some old building is converted into a general store/barber, and there is also a bee hive + garden. You don't really get the sense that the buildings were lived in or used, especially with the building layout. Thankfully, this also means that the buildings are fairly close together, compared to other similar villages which might require much more walking.

We particularly enjoyed the general store, the large collection of old carpentry tools, and feeding treats to a shy cat.

We so lucky to have The Settlers' Village in Bobcaygeon. A group of local residents went there recently for the annual Festival of Trees.
So much work goes into the Festival. Many volunteers make it all work so smoothly. The Village itself is a year-round attraction that draws many, many visitors to the area.
If you have never been to the Vllage, or never gone to the Festival of Trees, you are missing a true Kawartha treasure.

The Village is a collection of older historic buildings filled with local antiques. They also sponsor events such as a summer craft beer/cider event, a haunted village and a Festival of lights and seasonal decorations. Supported by volunteers they pull in large crowds so get there early for an event.

Summer camps are also popular see their website for details

Spent several hours working our way through the various well kept buildings at Kwartha Settlers Village.
The artifacts on display are well preserved and could potentially be used today. Excellent signage abounds explaining the various functions of items and history of the region.
Well worth the admission for small or large groups.
