This church is covered in gold leaf - more spanish plunder - however after visiting a number of churches over the last few days it was the scary statues that will stick in my mind - maybe for ever.

Outside it's appealing, but when you go inside and seeing all the gold that was stolen from the Incas after their massacre makes you to leave the premises.

I’m not big on churches, new or old. At least this old church’s exterior has been maintained and looks good from the plaza.

This 8th century Church of our Lady of the Assumption is located adjacent to the Plaza de Armas / Main Square in Chivay. While its size is small it is an excellent example of a baroque style church. All the statues inside are dressed in clothes / robes.
