This is the site of the first hydro-electric power station in Asia, set up in the early 20th century. The Gaganachukki and Barachukki waterfalls are best visited post monsoon, when there’s abundant water.

2 out of 3 times i visited it was closed. Visitors were not allowed near the falls because of some misshap. If allowed to go, you could take a dip in the water, play around and also go for a boat ride. Most of the time the quantity of water is not great. Hence not a mesmerising view. COnsidering the... My heart swells when I right about some great tourist places of India, but at the same time it boils for its poor maintenance by the authorities. This is a great natural water fall and is immensely popular as "Gagana Chukki" and "Bhara Chukki" falls. The place is easy to approach on road and not too far from the main... More

I traveled in the month of june when it was a bit hot. Getting to the view point is an ok tarmac road and really nothing special about it. Though the breadth of the waterfall is huge which would be treat to the eyes in monsoon

This could be spectacular falls if the rains are abundant and the river Kaveri is overflowing, so pls check the conditions before making a trip else you may be dissapointed, one can spend about half hour here taking pictures etc, there are no proper restaurants or seating to enjoy the falls, it can get really crowded on weekends as it... Thesse falls are on the banks of the Cauvery river. It is also the site of one of the first hydroelectric power stations in Asia. To reach the bottom of the falls, you have to come down several steps, so be sure that you are not carrying heavy luggage.

This falls is around 70 km from Mysore. You can see and enjoy the falls from a long distance. There is a view point from where you can see the falls. You cannot go down and really enjoy the water of the falls. The road leading to falls is enjoyable with greenery. You can spend max one hour watching the... More

Cons: 1.Tourists are not allowed to go down. you can watch from the distance. 2. Water is less because of Monsoon failure 3. Condition is pretty hot - try visit in morning or evening. Pro 1. Do a good ride on the Kanakapura road, both sides are filled with green farm fields, I strongly recommend two Wheelers to ride on... More
