We were advised by the staff at Pachamama in Cabanaconde to stay at the second of the three guest houses in Sangalle. This is what we did and were very happy with our stay. It's very basic but you have to expect that in the...More

Got to Colca canyon after so many reviews on it. Took the trail from Cabanaconde to the oasis and back. The way is beautiful with a lot of vegetation, you need to climb up and down 1400m or so each, in those two days. From...More

Did the 2day 1 night colca trek with a guided group of about 8. I got the mule up on the ascent the next day. Secluded, a very welcome flourishing environment after a very arid trek. Trek itself down and back up is quite uninspiring...More

It looked good from the mountains when hiking around but the 3 hostels are really bad, and the whole place is purely made for tourists, nothing typical here. There are much better places in the canyon like Llahuar, San Juan, etc.

We arrived completely exhausted and boiling hot from our solo trek so the swimming pools were everything we wanted, however after trekking elsewhere for two days in the Colca Canyon, Sangalle seemed a bit of a tourist trap, and I can't help but feel sorry...More

I arrived at Sangalle from Fure. The trail is dusty and the vegetation dry so Sangalle was a welcome green sight. As the trail drops down from the road toward Sangalle there was a man selling drinks and fruit for about half of what they...More

Deep down the canyon. 1000 meters down you can enjoy the oasis. Waterpowered hostels, pools with riverwater. Friendly staff, new people that all need to get back up that mountain.

If you go for the colca canon trek, avoid Sangalle Oasis. Better to trek via Lluhar, Fure and Tapay. They are by far authentic places where people are amazingly welcoming and kind. Sangalle is a tourist trap and we were treated with no manners. We...More
