This site free and relatively undeveloped compared with Newgrange and Knowth; thank goodness. The dip in the center was caused by earlier excavations but somehow it doesn’t distract from the magic. The site is entered through a small gate and it seems as if you...More

When you go to the Bru na Boone Centre for tickets to NewGrange and Knowth take the time after for the very short drive to Dowth. All three sites have their own flavour with Dowth being the smaller of the three. Dowth is not marked...More

The tour I joined offered to stop before our destination. Seems rather abandoned and raw but it is still being excavated and researched. It is amazing combination of such sites are scattered around the area.

This is a totally different experience than Newgrange and Knowth. It is very close to both of those tombs. However, it is not attached to the visitor center at all. It is in a field; when I was there, a few dozen sheep were wandering...More

This site is pristine, unlike Newgrange and Knowth. There's no entry to the Cairn, although you can see where the now barred entry exists. The top of the carin has caved in, in the field is currently being used for sheep grazing. You can climb...More

Visited Newgrange and thought Dowth was just as cool! Fun to be able to walk around and see the rocks and then walk to the top of the Passage Tomb. Couldn't go inside and there is not a formal gate or anything but we had...More

Unlike Newgrange, this burial mound is not open to the public. you can walk up to it, and around and over it, but the chambers are closed off. Still worth a visit if in the area. Free admission to the site.

This is the third of the three passage tombs. It is free and has open access. You get to see what Newgrange and Knowth would have looked like before their excavation and reconstruction. Well worth a stop off!

hidden gem, hidden place, not far away from Newgrange, worth it to come here. entrance is for free, interesting history about this place and definitley worth to get on top of this place, where you get nice view to nearby area.

This lesser known site is one to add to your itinerary if you are in the area and visiting the more well known Knowth and Newgrange sites. On the day of my visit I was the only visitor.
