The five of us really liked visiting Batoche National Historic Site. We were there today, on Louis Riel Relay days, and although none of us raced we had a good time watching the participants. Some great views of the river and surrounding area. Lots of walking so wear good shoes.

We returned to Batch after about 40 years and what an improvement. It is a very large site, and they have added a hop on hop off shuttle system to get you around. The people in the buildings (in period costume, of course) were knowledgeable and talkative. They did not sound overly rehearsed. It was a warm day with a... More

Batoche is a brilliant site. There is lots to go and see here. We started with a quick look around the visitors centre then watched the film in the cinema room. This gave us a good overview of what was at the site and the goings on in the area. We would not have appreciated the site without watching the... More

Batoche is a historic site maintained by Parks Canada. It features some historic buildings and a cemetery where the Northwest Resistance took place in the 1800s. The story of the Metis settlement and the Red River Rebellion seemed to be more interesting than the buildings themselves.

Batoche National Historic Site is a bit off the beaten track but well worth the visit, especially when done in conjunction with the nearby Duck Lake Regional Interpretive Centre (20 minutes away), both within an hour's drive north of Saskatoon. Like Duck Lake, Batoche is the scene of a clash between the Metis Resistance and Canadian government forces in 1885.... More

My husband and I both decided to go back and visit Batoche as we had been in grade 4. It was nice to see the site as an adult and see some new additions as well. We even brought our dogs along who enjoyed all the sights and smells too! Pick a nice warm day, pack a picnic and enjoy... More

Nice to see. You have buildings you can go through and see how they lived, how they fought and the things that were used back in time. Lots of history and price is right. Walk around the grounds and talk to the people that work there.

Spent a warm July afternoon visiting this site of recent western Canadian history. I had previously visited the site and was delighted in the improvements that have been made notably the addition of an open air tour bus and guide. I found the staff were knowledgeable with some having a personal connection to the history of this location. The site... More
