We did the palace on a tour combined with Peterhof gardens. The palace is beautiful and very interesting. Make sure you are on a tour though as you get in straight away then. If you go alone the line is huge.

This palace is much more opulent than Versailles. The amber room is breathing. Best of all, the crowds are well managed. Groups are only admitted into each room after the previous groups have departed.

Visited this place on the last day of our trip and it was good place to finish it. Stunning place! Had a tour guide who talked about its history and had a tour inside of the palace. You have to visit it!

Arrived early with a guide and avoided the queues. Very busy by the time we left but the gardens offered a nice respite. Glorious in it's colourful decor. Highlights include the Amber Room, Cameron Gallery, main facade and the Great Hall
