Went on a chilly November day, and it was gorgeous. Hardly anyone else there so had lots of room to "play".

We went in the fall/October. I understand the weekends in the summer are pretty busy. Parking easy and lots of it! WE hiked through the trails for about 1.5 hours. fairly flat but there were a few sections that were up and down. Runners were ok. Quiet during the week. Pooch had a ball in the outdoors! The lake itself is quiet during the week.

Perfect spot for glorious scenery, a picnic and a swim. Kayaking of paddle-boarding. Lots of free parking but you must reserve 24 hours in advance. Just lovely. Great for hiking too.

A great hike, challenging enough but not a crazy tough hike. Some beautiful views and not to difficult from an elevation perspective.
Just over 10 km's, with a nice break at the north beach. Mostly easy trail with a few sections of rock.
Usually takes me around 2.5 hours, a good workout and an easy trail to follow.
Highly recommended!!

This lake has been one of my favourite lakes to visit over the years since I've lived in the lower mainland.
During the summer time is a great place to have a picnic and go for a swim. If your looking for something more activate the trails are the lake are well worth the hikes. The views are amazing if you walk around the other side of the lake, which there is a dock you cam swim from and also a small bridge to walk over.

This is also a dog friendly location. It has it own pet area which is fenced off for you four legged friends to run around and swim also.

Amazing place to hang out for the day.

This lake is beautiful, and very popular for it's known trails, gated dog park, and family-friendly gathering spots. You are not guaranteed entry, when the volume of visitors becomes too high due to safety reasons. There are no posted lifeguards, and people have died in the lake unfortunately. On busier days, it is patrolled by both parks staff, and RCMP to prevent visitors from behaving inappropriately. There is a nice little dock where kids can "fish", and a boat launch area. It is worth staying a couple of hours at least due to the long drive in.

During summer (July to Sep), there is a bus 179 running for Saturday and Sunday from skytrain to here. Very convenience.

BC Hydro has been doing a knock-up job in keeping this park open and available for seeking outdoors activities from tanning, hiking or running, dog-walking, barbecuing, swimming, etc. Bring your motor-less boat/kayak for a leisurely paddle. There's sand beaches at either end of the lake, with picnic tables and washrooms as well. Of course, the near-side amenities are better than the far-side ones, but there's nothing like doing a hike or a walk on the well-groomed trails and then taking a dive off of the dock there on a hot day.
It's more than ten kilometers around Buntzen Lake with the lower trails on the west side being steeper than those of the east one (you also have a well-groomed dirt road option for hiking to this end of the lake). This road is closed to normal vehicular traffic and is seldom used. Excrpt for those wishing for an easy stroll.
There's also the tougher upper trails around the whole lake, for those wanting more of a challenge.
The liquor laws are enforced there, so if you're going there to party and carry on, try somewhere else, as this is a family- and fitness-oriented park. There's even an off-the-leash fenced-in area for your mutts!
You'll know when it is time to get out of the park as one of the wardens will sound truck horn repeatedly about a half hour before gate closing time. You can hear this pre-closure warning straight across the lake.
There is something here for everyone. Enjoy this gem of a park!
