It was quite an exciting experience to sit outside Bar Vitelli at the very spot Al Pacino sat in The Godfather, one of my favourite films. It was a blazing hot day in Savoca and the bar offered plenty of shade after a lengthy exploration of the medieval town. Inside one can see artifacts and photos from the film. Tge good-looking barman was very polite and friendly: the service efficient and speedy. My only (slight) criticism were the prices. I paid a bit much for an ordinary beer. Other than that, the place is wonderfully atmospheric and relaxing. I strongly recommend a trip to Savoca and a stop here.

The main purpose of me travelling to Sicily, was to visit bar Vitelli. My personal journey starting walking up from the train station at Santa Teresa di Riva. This was quite an epic walk, with breath taking views along the way.
Then slowly and surely, I reach Savoca, I walk around a corner and reached my goal, getting to bar Vitelli. I had to pause for at least half an hour, just dazzing at the bar. Goose bumbs, shivering down my spine, as I went in.
I felt as though as was in the movie, because it's exactly the same, including the chairs outside where Micheal Corleone sat. Inside, on the left they've made it into a little museum, and pictures of when they filmed the Godfather. On the right, it's like a normal bar, aswel as purchasing gifts and souvenirs from the movie.
I had a big mug of cappuccino, and sat outside, and really did expect Micheal Corleone to walk out. But it was personal for me, not business, so we'd would got on just fine.
Opposite the bar, the views are amazing and all of Savoca is just a brilliant place to go.
I recommend to anyone, to go visit Bar Vitelli, fantastico.

If you come to Savoca you are clearly a Godfather fan, so this bar is as unmissable as it is iconic. We enjoyed a lemon and strawberry granita, glass of wine and beer and lapped up the environment and history of such a beautiful place. The bar is fabulous and full of memorabilia. Even if it wasn’t famous, it’s not to be missed!

Owner and manager is extremely rude to Godfather fans. Only allows u to take photos if you pay for a table and the cost for food and drinks is ridiculously high. He’s kills the atmosphere and experience. He’s bleeding The Godfather for all it’s worth, what a shame.

It has a big name due to the movie Godfather. But the salads we had were terrible. It was way overpriced and none of the ingredients were fresh and tasty. The staff was not really friendly. I guess without the Godfather it did not exist anymore.

Bar Vitelli is located in gorgeous Savoca, Italy on Piazza Fossia. The building is an 18th century palace built by the Trimarchi family in a Sicilian Neoclassical style. We had a driver, so it was easy to access (there are also Godfather location tours). This is the spot from the famous scene where Coppola filmed Michael Corleone (played by Al Pacino) asking the owner for his daughter Appolonia's hand in marriage. An offer the her father couldn't refuse ("I am an American, hiding in Sicily. My name is Michael Corleone. There are people who'd pay a lot of money for that information. But then your daughter would lose a father instead of gaining a husband." I only had time for a cappuccino, but it was lovely sitting outside under the green canopied vines. There weren't many people around since I was visiting off-season. Please be courteous when you visit as this is owned by real people and it isn't Universal Studios. But you can go inside and see memorabilia from the movie. And buy a Bar Vitalli T-shirt... I even wear mine w/a black or white skirt. The town itself is a wonderful (but hilly) place to walk. Bar Vitelli is a great place to start.

Believe it or not, a full size bus CAN make its way all the way to the top of the winding, very narrow road to Bat Vitelli. It is a bar, yes, and they do have some movie memorabilia in the room on the right as you walk in. It's quaint but clean. Very picturesque. We were there early in the morning, about 9 am, and had the place all to ourselves. we were a tour group of 10. We ate a scone or danish and had a wonderful 20 minute visit.

The bar Vitelli is a nice place, well furnished, quite interesting as location of the movie the godfather, nothing more. Today I was there in order to have a granita, that is a typical Sicilian products made with fruit and ice. It was very bad, among the worst I had in my life. When I was to the cash register for paying, I said that to the owner in polite ways, he e answered me in ironic and very unpleasant ways. I suggest go to visit the bar, but DO NOT have granita

We ordered a granita and coke; 11 euros. It's a pretty bar, but it's not worth the price unless you are a die hard godfather fan. There is movie memorabilia inside, but I don't think it's worth the price. Service was so-so

We were a little reluctant about coming here for the classic Godfather experience as we had read some unfriendly reviews along the way, but I must say that our experience was more than pleasant. The host who took us to our table was gracious and very available. He allowed us (actually encouraged us) to take pictures of the iconic spots of the venue. We had some different coffee options (espresso, caffe` freddo, and granita di caffe` con panna) and all were very good, not spectacular as some of the more authentic joints one may find down a narrow old historic town street, but for a spot that attracts a swarm of tourists on a daily basis, everything was quite good. It was a little difficult driving up there based on the road our GPS led us to, but there is an alternate, much wider and newer road option (which we took on the way back down) that makes it all worth the trip.

Is de bar nog toegankelijk voor bezoekers of sta je voor een dichte deur ik hoorde dat de eigenares is overleden

First I am sorry about the delay in answering your question. I have no knowledge regarding the owner but I cannot believe that it would be shut permanently

Hi, How easy is it to drive from Catania and find Bar Vitelli as we are hiring a car. Thanks
Written September 25, 2016
Hiring a car as in renting one for you to drive? If so I'd say easy. I did it a few years ago driving up from Catania (Aci Castello actually). We drove up SS114 along the coast somewhat to SP19 and then up to Savoca. Pleasant drive but you do go through a few towns. Depending on where you are in Catania, you might be able to take the A18 and avoid the towns and a much shorter drive time wise. Google map Bar Vitelli, Savoca and then you place where you're staying to get the route.

Saludos
