Impressive ancient theater

When arriving I did not expect to find such a large and well preserved amphitheater. Well worth a visit!

This is a great theatre. It is definitely a must see in the area. The entrance costs €6. Its only 1h drive from Athens.Try to do your own soundcheck. The acoustic is amazing. If you have time, I suggest you to drive to Nafplio, a little town, only 30 mins far away from the Theatre.

the theater and its setting make it a must see. special about the theater is that its acoustics are even after so many years amazing. at this day it's still possible to do theater or opera without using microphones. when standing in the middle of the stage everyone can hear exactly what you say even on normal voice and you... The Amphi theatre, beautifully situated in a lush region, is incredible, and naturally the highlight of the site - yet there's so much more than 'just' the theatre. While nowhere near as big as for example Pompeii, the sanctuary of Asklepios - or rather the ruins there of still covers a substantial area. Walking around the site, there's a good... More

This is one of the best ancient sites I have ever been to (second perhaps only to Pompeii). The feat of architecture is astounding considering it is two & a half thousand years old, & you can really imagine the sights of people gathered to watch a performance. The theatre is remarkably well preserved & restored & the views across... More

Epidaurus is in the north east of the Peloponesse about 40 kms to the east of Nafplio. It is the site of both a remarkable amphitheatre built in the 4th century BC and an ancient place of healing that drew people from all over the Hellenic world. The theatre remains in a fantastic state of preservation with terraced seating for... More

Not a news flash - this is a spectacular theater. We tried to get there for a concert but could not swing the dates. Do remember there is more than just a theater here. We quickly tired of the museum because pretty much everything said "original in the museum in Athens", but still worth a look. Worth more time are... More

Epidaurus theatre is a great piece of art. We could not stop wondering how it has been possible to build something like this back then. Place was not crowded, so the visit was very pleasant.

Theater heals. The ancient Greeks believed in this and built a structure that stood the test of time. Today is almost the same as thousands years ago. They still play dramatic spectacles at Epidaurus. The acoustic is perfect. I love Epidaurus.
