We camp out regularly and Lakeport is one of our favorite spots close to Port Huron, and a relatively short drive from Grosse Pointe Park. Campsites are well maintained and the staff is courteous and helpful. We like meeting the other campers who share the...More

Camped two nights here and it was nothing special but not terrible either. The sites are not private and have that special 'grassy Walmart parking lot' feel to them. The shower facility seemed fairly new and nicer than some of the other MI state parks...More

Lakeport State Park is a pleasant park located close to Port Huron. We stayed there one night in a hard-sided pop-up camper at site 71. Positives: a nice beach; clean restrooms; separate shower rooms; clean campsites; potable water sources throughout campground; several kid play areas...More

Spent five days at Lakeport last week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Previous reviewers have complained about the parking rules being enforced, and they are telling the truth. We had four cars on our lot and had to move two of them to overflow parking,...More

My family visits Lakeport State Park several times per year. (One camping trip in the fall as well as several day visits to the beach in the summer.) I've visited several state park campgrounds, and Lakeport is by far my family's favorite. In the summer...More

We stayed here with our kids and grandkids for two nights, in the cabins. We took the log cabin on the water and one of the smaller ones. Log cabin is small, but efficient. The other cabin was good for extra sleeping space, but way...More

Great local (near the Detroit metro area)campground, fairly clean bathhouse, lots of people coming and going. Not as great as most other state parks we've been to but still nice.

This was our first time visiting this park. All grass sites, huge, many pull-throughs. The campground has two sections: north- has playground equipment and some views of the water; south- has paved sites, more secluded and a bit farther to the beach. Beach on south...More

I believe dogs are allowed as long on leash ( 6 ft max) and not left unattended . Not sure about the beach or in cabins. Double check DNR camp rules to be sure.
