Light lunch
Sep. 2020 • Couples
Hubby and I in the area for a short mini vacay.
It was recommended we give Viewpoint a try.
We shared pickeral tacos and French fries. Both were truly amazing.
I enjoyed a glass of white wine and hubby had a beer. He didnt like the beer but the wine was nice though it was in a plastic glass, so much better in a real wine glass.
One thing I thought was tacky was the porta potties.
If in the area again we will come again

No effort to make customers happy
Sep. 2020 • Couples
Not very accommodating. You have to line up to order food and beverages. There is a sign that says, “no substitutions” for ingredients etc. I asked if that was because all the food was prepackaged and she said, “no it’s just because the kitchen gets too busy”. LOL therefore don’t bother them with your food preferences. Then I asked if I could go inside to use the restroom. Again the answer was no. Customers were supposed to use the disgusting portopotties. They seem to think that customers should feel they are doing us a favour by allowing us to come there and give them money. Very little effort on their part to be accommodating. Covid or no covid, every other place allows customers to use the indoor restrooms. Plus, every other place lets customers make changes to food orders. We won’t be going back there. The Oxley has better food and are more appreciative towards paying customers. There is an attitude and an effort problem at Viewpoint. Many other wineries with better food and a more accommodating philosophy.

Many better and friendly wineries in the area.

Once on the top of my list now off my list all together. The view is beautiful but they have changed so much. You now have to order and pay for your food inside. When asked why things changed the staff person said "it was getting too hectic for the servers." Not sure how you ordered drinks and food, is hard to write down, then they would not give you separate bills starting "we don't do that here." The old way they had a nice selection of finger foods and fish etc. Now there is not much appealing. I am not sure if there are $$$ issues, they HAVE management issues for sure because this went from being on top to being off the list. Go TRY North 42 which a a beautiful winery with fields of lavender and an impressive menu and my top pick is Oxley winery the food, service, food and of course wine spot on. Both of these other Wineries are on the same road drive past Viewpoint and try out the other wineries that are right there. Cheers.

Very poor service!

A group of 8 of my friends and I visited the area for a weekend of wine-tasting. It was a busy day and this was our last stop on a wonderful Grape Vine Tour. We were motioned down to a small section at the end of the bar by Lindsay, the retail manager. Only 3-4 of us could fit at the end. When we began inquiring about the wines we wished to taste, Lindsay informed us that she would be selecting the wines we would be tasting. When we told her that some of us only liked whites and some of us only liked reds, she threw a menu at us, shook her head and walked away. Your rude employee cost you about $500 in sales because we promptly left and went to North 42, where we were welcomed and served with a smile! We left with several bottles of great wine! Viewpointe has a nice view but the attitude of Lindsay cost you a lot of money-we will not be back!

Not Worth It - Terrible Service
Oct. 2019
Last stop of Grape Tours was Viewpointe. It looked beautiful overlooking the shores of Lake Erie. Busy so waiting for space at the serving counter. One of the servers appeared irritated and frazzled. Hoped we weren't going to get her. As luck would have it, out tour host spoke to her - named Lindsay about our group of 9 being there for wine tasting. With a nasty attitude Lindsay (her name) said "when it is this busy, i pick the 4 wine tastings". One of the 9 said but we all have different tastes. Lindsay rolled her eyes and threw the wine list at us and said you will have to wait and walked away. So much for customer service. We told our tour guide that we did not want to taste or buy any wine at Viewpointe. The tour guide took us to another winery which was just as busy but they were wonderful. Most of our group this was their first visit to the Essex County wineries and they loved it but told me if we ever come back don't bother scheduling Viewpointe.

Don’t go
Oct. 2019
We have been on so many wine tastings in both the US and Canada. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had. Lindsay was so unwelcoming that we actually left. This was a group of 9. The view was beautiful, but the experience was awful. We went down the road to North 42; it was awesome

Gorgeous view from the patio
Jul. 2019
Came for lunch one lovely Sunday afternoon. We wanted to sit on the patio and have lunch and enjoy the view out over the lake. We had heard that there was often music on the patio on the weekends and so we definitely thought it would be a pleasant afternoon.
We were disappointed however.Found that we had to join a slow line up in side to order our food and drinks. As well, on our way out to the patio we had to go to a bar outside to pick up our drinks to take with us. Pretty much self service all the way! Help yourself to water, plastic utensils and napkins. Then find a table and wait for the food to be delivered in paper boxes. Not at all what I expected and overall left us less than pleased with our experience. Although the food was tasty, the overall experience was disappointing and we will be in no rush to come back.

This is NOT my typical winery meal.
Aug. 2019 • Friends
We stopped here for lunch and I can assure you , NEVER AGAIN. Two of us ordered peach sangria and quesadillas. One in our party ordered red wine with the perch and the last person ordered pizza and white wine. It was noon and they hadn’t decided if they were going to make sangria... ( then don’t put it on your menu). They decided they would make it. It was the only tasty thing we had. The quesadillas were bland and under baked. The pizza resembled lean cuisine frozen and the perch dinner was cold. I felt like they snuck my 17 year old in the kitchen and she begrudgingly made my lunch. It was ridiculously expensive. Shame on Viewpoint- you are embarrassing the rest of the wineries in the area.

They serve lunch in a cardboard takeout box! So unappetizing!
Jul. 2019
A friend and I drove out from LaSalle on July 17 to have lunch, since they have an amazing view of Lake Erie. Lunch service was almost non-existant, First you have to order your food from the cashier on your way in...literally stand at the door and decide what you want....just like a fast food joint. Then get your wine from the tasting bar and carry it out to your table. On the way, you have to pick up your own cutlery and water. They also hand you a beeper, which is kind of useless, because it is only to signal you that someone will be bringing your lunch out. (I guess this could be useful if you had taken a walk over to the edge of the water and needed to make your way back....they never suggested this as a reason).
All of the staff seemed rather indifferent except the bartender. Someone did bring our lunch to the table...and to our utter disbelief, it was in a cardboard takeout container. When we said something about it, they said it was compostible, that's all. It was very awkward to eat out of and totally lacking in class, for such a beautiful winery. We both had the perch, which was very good...albeit a horrible presentation stuffed in a takeout box.
If they are going to have staff there, which they did, why not have full table service, on real plates. We will not be back.
