It's a bit off the main roads but certainly an enjoyable side trip. The easy paved path and trail markers take you very close to the giants and into the forest. When we visited they had been doing some clearing of the undergrowth and smaller...More

Be advised the drive to the Trail of 100 Giants is windy and no guard rails which made my wife quite nervous, just drive cautiously. For some reason all the parking areas were closed off due to renovations so we ended up parking on the...More

This was worth the detour on our way to Anaheim from Utah. The trees are majestic - pictures don't do them justice. The trail is easy and can be done in an hour.

Trees that touch the sky. We love the Sequoia National Forest and this is always one of our favorite stops. These trees are amazing! It is awesome to imagine all of the history behind them. Five dollar parking across the street. An asphalt paved trail...More

Barely into the grove you wil came upon perhaps the largest tree of them all. An asphalt paved trail is easy to negotiate and wheelchair accessible. If using a wheelchair, one of the electric jobs is preferable, as this can be a bit hilly. These...More

We thought we'd make a trip up to this southern most grove of Sequoia's while staying in Bakersfield. Since we had our dog with us, we decided Sequoia NATIONAL FOREST was a better bet than Sequoia National Park (most NP's are pretty strict while most...More

I didn't even know about this trail until we drove by half by chance, and almost didn't stop because it was a little late. But I'm so glad we did! I had previously seen sequoias at Toulumne Grove, and later at General Sherman and General...More

One should definitely walk this trail when in the area. It's an easy hike on a paved trail - ADA accessible. It's not strenuous at all and its just a lovely place with many beautiful trees. Also was very uncrowded, peaceful & quiet.

The trail of 100 giants is a magnificent example of the ancient redwoods. Typically only found in coastal regions, these giants and the walking tour will not disappoint you. The weather is cool in the summer, and there are several campgrounds in the area if...More

To truly experience the majesty of the sequoias in peace and quiet this is the place to come to. I visited the Muir Woods two years ago which was impressive but very touristy. The Trail of 100 Giants is a totally different experience. You get...More

Will a car's GPS work on the way up there?

I don't see why not. Your phone will not have reception, when you get really high up. There is a restaurant with wifi (I believe) in Ponderosa if you need to search for directions or maps on your phone.

Snow Mobile, Snow Shoes, or wait until spring. Since we're in a drought, call Ponderosa Lodge or the Bed and Breakfast up there and ask how much snow there is. I've done that plenty of times, and then go eat lunch at their... More
