Hirtle's has been my favorite beach in Nova Scotia since I was a little kid jumping in the waves. One thing we really enjoy about Hirtles in the fact you have a beautiful ocean and a fresh water lake within feet of eachother.

Hirtles beach is simply amazing - the beach is long and vast and has cool scenery surrounding in from every angle. Water is great for swimming in the summer, can be slightly wavy - sometimes even enough to surf. however, it is perfect conditions for body boarding and playing in the waves. Great for children/families, this place is also great for hiking. Gaft point is the coastal hike along the cliftline at the end of the beach (please note - some damage to this hiking trail as of Sept 2019 due to the hurricane), but this is one of the coolest hikes in NS (takes about 2 hours). Note - this area can be foggy, so check the weather in Kingsburg before heading down. …

Quite Nova Scotian beach frequented by locals. Nice soft sanded beach. Many people can take their dogs to this beach.

Wanted to hike this beach to Gaff point but when we parked our car there was a paper from parks canada stating that Gaff Point was closed .if you decided to hike it it would be at your own risk. We walked along the beach lots of rounded rocks and seaweed. Bathroom facility available.…

Hike along the beach and then up and around the head for a lovely 1.5-2 hour hike; we saw a whale wondering through the channel, several birds and beautiful coast lines. Bring water as it's a little rugged and you might want to stop to just enjoy the view.
