Very enjoyable place! The tour guide was knowledgeable about the birds on a very pleasant calm boat ride. I also liked the large gift shop with many toilets available. I tried a free sample of delicious Costa Rican coffee while watching dancers perform.

This is a great way to see birds. You get taken upstream so can see a huge variety of herons and other wading birds (and crocs) then down near the estuary and along a mangrove lined waterway. Very relaxing and enjoyable

Perfect after-service Few weeks before we left to CR, I contacted this company directly in order to book two private boat bird watching tours. Once we agreed upon the facilities and the prices , we paid already both trips up front. We arrived at 8 March and the 2 boat trips were scheduled on 21 and 22 march. Unfortunately, the first day we had to cancel it since we had a small problem. Around 6:15 AM I’ve send them a mail with the cancellation. They replied immediately “don’t worry, that’s ok.” Since CR was now in Corona-virus mode and they closed the National Parks, and I did not know if the trip was done in a National Park, and to be on the safe site, I ask them if the trip was still OK for the next day. And their reply was that All national Parks are closed, and it is was cancelled. Once at home, we contacted them about the cancellation and were wondering if we could get a refund for the second day (not the first since we cancelled it). And after some exchanges of mails, they refunded us the second trip . Very, very nice ….

This boat trip is on the Tarvoles River, which has the most American crocodile population in Costa Rica. The river flows to the Delta and the tour goes one way down the river and then back up the river toward the Delta. It is located about 75 miles west of the San Jose airport. The boat is an covered open air boat and cruises along very slowly. This river is very dirty murky water and some trash along the banks but no smell or odor. Along the way we saw several different sizes of crocs, cattle, horses, iguanas, egrets, black hawk and some other bird species. The biggest croc was named ‘Osama’ and is about 17’ long and we were right up by him and he didn’t move a tad. Also along the river are mangrove areas and lots of different birds. There is a gift shop with restrooms where the parking lot is up from the docks where you get on the boat. The shop and restrooms are clean and there is a small variety of local items to buy.

If you are in this area this your is an absolute must! Try and book the last tour of the day as you then get to see the most glorious sunset from the mouth of the river. Numerous bird species to be pointed out and identified by experienced and knowledgeable guides as well as the stars of the show - the crocodiles. Several of these are 15ft long or larger and come right up to the boat - just don't be tempted to lean over and give them a pat!
