Don't take the cable car if you are able to manage a moderate hike. The Masada site opens at 5am and make sure you arrive on time so that it allows you 45 minutes to climb to the top and also position yourself for sunrise. It was around 6am for us. The cable car opens later at 8am so you... More

This was an amazing spot to visit. I have been twice, and plan on returning. The second time there was an excavation site. I look forward to returning to see what has been uncovered. A lot of walking. Good shoes non slip! There is a exhilarating trail to walk up, or a lift. Take water, and snacks. Expect at least... More

You can walk up and down the mountain or take the cablecar. Its about a 5 minute ride up and about a 25-45 minute walk down, depending on your fitness level and how often you stop to take photos. There are stairs and path parts to the trail. Masada itself is ancient and has quite a complicated and interesting history.... More

We loved this place. The scenery itself is amazing. The story, especially of the siege, is fascinating. There is more to be seen than I realised- the remains are more extensive and the buildings more complete (there has been reconstruction). We loved it.

Masada was King Herod's vacation fortress that was the setting of some tragic stories in history. The view atop the fortress is gorgeous, as you can see for miles, including the Dead Sea. The climb is a moderate hike all the way up to the summit, and you can take a cable car which opens at 8 AM as well.

Great place to visit! March was great as it wasn't too hot. Nice temperature and wind made a visit really great. A lot of things to see and it takes a lot of time to see everything. Worth visiting as it offers amazing views apart of other things.

As there are a number of reviews already describing the attraction, I won't go into the details there. We wanted to take the snake route up to the top, but we didn't realize that the path was closed at 3p. In retrospect, this was a good decision, as it would have been a difficult hike with our kids given the... More

We approached Masada from the Arad side. This meant we could climb up the causeway created by the Romans to capture the citadel. This was far more meaningful than the cable car side. It is cheap to enter the park. The signage on top is very good and you can relive the experience of those who held out for so... More

We took the snaky path up, and the cable car down. The climb was not easy (early April - not too hot) but happy we did it. You must bring water. At the top we were rewarded with incredible history- amazingly preserved colors on walls, structures and ruins that told the intense story of the siege. The views are awesome... More
