Hacienda Yaxcopoil (YASH-coh-poh-EEL) is a Yucatan plantation dating back to the 17th century. The hacienda has been the location of several film and television productions, and is featured in most travel guides. Its archives are frequently cited in historical texts and research. The Hacienda may be the best preserved but unrestored hacienda in the Yucatan. The Hacienda is open daily for tours, a private guest house, museum of Mayan artifacts, gift shop, snack bar and events.

This was an easy trip from Merida, a great half day excursion. The grounds are lush, with lots of space for kids to run around. The Hacienda has been meticulously restored, and gives you an accurate historical picture of the time. We did the tour, in Spanish, and enjoyed it! Entrance is 100 pesos, but kids are free.

The hacienda is in the process of being restored and appears that it will be quite a spectacle when it is done. Right now you can see a blend of the unrestored history contrasted against the beauty of the restoration. Entrance fee is a very reasonable 100 pesos (about $5). Allow about an hour along your way between Merida and... More

This was the first stop and a wonderful hacienda that shared some of the Yucatan history . Beautiful building and gardens. You are able to go thought all the building and see the equipment where they processed the sisal. From there we went to two cenotes which we had already seen and are disappointing so our guide took us to... More

The place is very well maintained as an original Hacienda. Quick visit but worth the trip, specially if you are going to Uxmal.

We visited with a Flemish group this lovely not yet totally restored hacienda with a guide who spoke rather good our mother tongue (Dutch). The hacienda dates back to the 17th century. It was once one of the most important rural estates in the Yucatán. Inside, besides many original pieces of furniture, are 2 oil paintings showing Don Domiciano García... More

The driver we had hired to take us to Uxmal suggested a tour of the Hacienda at Yaxcopoil on the way. It turned out to be very interesting and scenic. A small entrance fee of 75 pesos per person was charged. The main building has been restored to some extent with work continuing. Many of the buildings look very old,... More

I stopped in while driving through the archeological zone. There is very rich architecture and fantastic people. There is free parking and it is just off the main road and in a very peaceful town.

We were greeted by a quiet and I presuming Arsenio who guided us in Spanish around the site. he had worked there along with members of his family until the mid 80's. He was familiar with the house the grounds and the fabrica having worked on the line as a fourteen year old. His descriptions were vivid and came from... More

I was expecting a ruin. Instead I got a lovely maintained yet not totally restored visit to a lovely hacienda. This is not a guided tour but the young guide was great to talk to when we visited the machinery section of the visit. Speaks a little english but with my little spanish we had a good history of the... More

I took taxi to Hacienda Yaxcopoil. Driver waited while I toured. It was such a wonderful Hacienda. The owners must have been very rich. The factory area, grounds, furniture, floor tilework, buildings all were wonderful to see and well worth the few pesoes to tour. Small gift shop with cold pop and water and trinkets available. Take your camera. It... More
