How going to the cinema should be

What a wonderful experience! Comfy movable armchairs, bottles of wine and a cheese platter. How very civilised!

We love this cinema as it always feels like such an occasion when we visit. The period Decor and comfy seats make watching films so much more enjoyable and you can even get a drink in a proper glass and take it you your seat / table.

This cinema has a character all of its own, staff are very friendly, knowledgeable which only adds to the whole " Rex ' experience.Should you go out of your way to see a film here ? Absolutely ! I've sat in various parts of the auditorium and I do not think there is a bad seat in the house, drinks... More

Words cannot fully convey the pleasure of a visit to a less crowded and more greateous past. Prebooking is essential, try our favourite, the small intimate alcoves at the back downstairs, you won't be disappointed.

I made an honest mistake in doubling booking tickets. They had no interest in helping despite the film being virtualluy sold out. To be clear - not can't help; just not interested in helping at all. Don't care about you the customer.

On a short visit to "Berko" we spotted the interesting art deco style cinema and wondered inside (no films being shown at that hour) - what a wonderful revelation! A thoroughly sympathetic restoration of its original splendours greets you upon entry to the main/only screen. Tables and chairs are placed on the ground floor, as well as the usual stall... More

Plush seats, reasonably priced drinks and James' reviews - what an experience. Better than being in the city centre. This is cinema going at its very best.

Lush decorations showing off its art deco heritage in plush richness and with large seats with plenty of space front and back on the upper part of the cinema the place doesn't skimp on the technical details either with great sound system and an expanding screen for the feature film. It was touching to see presumably the patron step out... More

Have been wanting to come here for ages, and, after spending an hour trying to get through to the booking office to order tickets I wasn’t disappointed! Easily found somewhere to park in adjacent road, so arrived in plenty of time to soak up the surroundings. Beautiful building and so nicely laid out inside – a great way to see... More

I was bought a voucher for tickets for my birthday. To be honest it was quite a challenge to use it as the phone lines get very busy and tickets sell out really quickly. I didn't want to waste the tickets and see just what happened to be the only film left available with unsold tickets: I wanted to see... More
