Excellent spot for a picnic

We came here on the recommendation of a guidebook after deciding to visit Carleton Place as part of a day trip from Ottawa. I'm glad that we went as it offered a perfect spot for a picnic next to the Mississippi River. Would definitely come back, as we only stayed to eat lunch, before heading out to explore the rest of the town.

Beautiful, scenic park

We wanted to stop for a picnic lunch on our drive from Ottawa to Belleville and found this park on Google Maps. What a gem of a place. The town itself is so nice and Riverside Park Beach was exactly what we were looking for. Plenty of parking, picnic tables and benches, a quiet shaded spot along the river to enjoy our lunch. Off to the other side of the Canoe Club building ( with washrooms) is a splash park, playground and lots of kids and families. Across the river is a swimming area and we saw several paddle boarders on the river. Worth a stop if you’re in the area.

Nice community park. Good place to go for a stroll, place has lots of parking and a spot from where you can lower your own canoe/kayak. Nice place to go for a picnic or spend a lazy afternoon.

Scenic, bucolic place to get away from it all

There is lots of parking and lots of space to walk around, sit and cogitate. There are many trees for shade, a swimming area in the river, a bit of a beach and lots of places to meander. You will see paddlers on the river from the canoe club, and you can walk to the far end to get away from it all.

Splash Pad, Beach and beautiful views

This is a fantastic spot for kids. Nice sand beach, river swimming with life guards on duty, a playstructure and splash pad.

You can spend a few hours here soaking up the gorgeous scenery and letting the kids go wild.

The canoe club is next door with ground level public washroomd and there is often an ice cream stand on site after noon.

Walking distance from town or parking on site.

Lovely place for a stroll

It's an average park, good to keep the kids busy an get them out of the house. It has some beautiful river views, which are best enjoyed at off-peak times.

I found it could be cleaner, I stopped going because of the dogs, some people do not pick up their dog's droppings. I won't go in water where dogs go. due to allergies to animals
