Most people only get one chance in a lifetime to see a glacier. If you've seen more than one this may not be the best but it is certainly impressive and well worth a visit. You can walk from the coach car park which takes...More

We visited Briksdal Glacier as a part of LEGENDS OF SCANDINAVIAN CAPITALS TOUR by Nordic Saga Tours. This is a very breathtaking view. It was nice to walk up and take pictures.

Best part is walk up, stop and sit for 5 mins at the waterfall on way up and down as it is lovely. The glacier itself is nothing special although the day we were up we took some lovely photos with perfect reflection in the...More

If you compare this glacier to Antartica, it is probably quite insignificant, however, it is a beautiful walk up to it through stunning scenery. I would recommend going. We didn't take the cruise ship tour and glad we did it on our own. We were...More

What a lovely place to visit, you shouldn't miss out on a walk up to the glacier, you can walk up, or there are jeeps which take you to near the top, the walk is about 45 minutes from the coach/cafe area. The most beautiful...More

Compared to other glaciers I've visited and been able to walk on (Fox, Franz Joseph, Athabasca) Briksdal is a great disappointment. You walk for 45-60 mins up some fairly tricky terrain for a view of a small bit of ice stuck up in a crevice...More

A good healthy walk to a great sight. We were on a P @ O cruise ship which called at Olden. It can be cheaper to do the tour on your own. There is a bus that goes from the pier . Not sure of...More

If you ever wanted to touch a glacier or the freezing running water from it this is it! We were super lucky and had a sunny day and took the bus ride with various stops along the way. A short ride from the town's center...More

There were departures from right beside pier at 09:30 and 10:30, it cost €45 per person and we paid online and booked 10:30 departure as we were transferred by tender and not tied up. This ensured that we had plenty of time... More

Hi, I wondered if anyone knows how much it would cost to hire a troll car per person? PO cruises are offering a walking tour to the Briksdal Glacier at £58 per person, another company called cruising excrursions are offering a troll car tour at £100 per person. Both seem rather expensive and I just wondered how much a troll car would cost to hire separately (combined with a public bus from the cruise ship? Hope someone can help, many thanks

Sorry you can't walk on the glacier. It is receding quite a bit, but still a great experience. I was there last week and it was great to see. It was also snowing so that added to the experience.
