Was very happy to meet the Curator Judy.
We could see she loved her work.
Hope she will be there for many years to come , the Museum needs stability and knowledge about Mattawa and people of the past . $12.00 is a bit expensive for a visit.

Long life and may the Museum go forward.

Anyone wanting to know life in small town and how it is well displayed with artifacts of those times should visit this museum. Gives you a personal connection with the mixed ethnicity of its residents.
This museum’s board and staff have done a remarkable job. Very true accounts of the communities roots!

OK, so you're in Mattawa and wondering what to do. This is an absolute must. Be prepared, it's not huge nor is it a slick museum. Staff are super friendly and the collection is unique. We were there for a full 2 and half hours reading through all the characters that had something to do with Mattawa and were fully entertained. It exceeded our expectations.

Compared to the size of the town of Mattawa, the museum is huge. It has 3 floors with extensive offerings covering pioneer life, Anahero and Grey Owl, the first mayor of Haitan descent in Canada, Mr. Monestime, and other local people of note from the 20th century. Binders with newspaper clippings and other archival information accompany most of the displays. You can literally spend hours here. My only disappointments were not able to take photos and the gift shop contained kitchy items. Postcards of some of the displays would have been nice.

Firstly, if you like rocks you must go here just to check out the giant piece of Mica.
And even if you are not a rock nerd, this little museum does a great job showcasing many aspects of Mattawa. Definitely stop by if you are in town or if you are just driving through.

Our Family enjoys small town Museums and Mattawa was an excellent stop on our summer Vacation. Our Three sons were entertained enough to make this a great short visit. Always like to see what local history is provided, and the boys liked the authentic displays and animals.
