Great small local museum

Surprisingly well displayed local museum. Lots of objects from various time periods, well displayed. Good outer building display with larger items.

When we decided to stop by I was hoping my kids would like learning about 19th century life, and they really enjoyed it. Out buildings (1-room schoolhouse, blacksmith shop) were as interesting as the museum

This is a really good insight into our history. Has some wonderful displays of Bell telephone equipment, the original schoolhouse of Manitowaning, a forgers shed and equipment, some gorgeous quilts and it's all housed in the original jail where you can be locked up for a photo op. I go in yearly. Very enjoyable tour and not expensive.

Timed our visit in off season but still worth viewing the buildings and Norisle Steamship berthed permanently in the harbour at Manitowaning.

While tripping around the island having no set schedule my mom, son and I found this great museum. We took our time exploring within the walls of so much wonderful history. We will definitely be revising this one, can't wait for our next trip.😀⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Assiginack Museum is in a well maintained green park in Manitowaning. There are four buildings: a pioneer home, blacksmith shop, school house and a barn and all are open to view. The main museum display is in the pioneer home and they have a display of glassware, toys and other artifacts from the early settling of Manitoulin Island. A... More

Well laid out and lots of history. There are glass, ceramics, history information. A great museum curator to answer information and outbuildings with carriages, a school house and outdoor kitchen.
