A sanctuary rich in biodiversity. One of the world's primary mangrove conservations. The river safari is full of actions and an experience not to be missed.

It was an excellent experience for my 2 friends from India and my family. They were planning to do a boat safari at Bentota River but I recommended and brought them to do the “Madu River Safari” Our boat provider was “Totupola Maduwa River Safari No.2” and must specially mentioned about the boat driver ‘Nishantha, he was excellent. From the moment I stepped into the boat, I felt like all my emotions has changed. You will become another person. The Cinnamon island is fantastic, they shows you how they make the cinnamon. The Buddhist temple is such a mystic in a lovely location. Highly recommended to explore whenever you are in Sri Lanka!

The river safari is rather fun. There is a cave , fish spa and cinnamon island to visit. I went with 20 family members and it costed us 3500 for the boat ride, 200 pp for the fish spa and 200 for the cinnamon packets at the island. The rates are higher for non nationals I gather. A quick tip-... More

The price was 3000 rupees per adult, half price for children. We asked for fishing equipment and were provided two rods and some bread for bait and we managed to... More

As you settle down in the boat, you are soon taken into a mangrove forest, epic as it sounds, it actually is. One by one you are taken to several interesting stops. Fish Spa, Cinnamon Tea, Buddha temple are some of them. Your 'captain' also shows you some jellyfishes or kingfishers in the middle of the water. You will also... More

Seeing these lizards cruising through... More

Boat ride in the Madu river was a great experience on a sunny day. The ride among the mangrove and the fish therapy was very good.
