If you see the other reviews, you will understand my point. This museum if a tiny jewel in the heart of Holland for car traveling tourists, or should I say “Dutch speaking visitors”. I believe it is meant to convey a view of the local history, through the story of a local jam factory, but all the signs are exclusively written in Dutch! The exhibits are very nice, maybe some need to be updated in style, but the problem is there is no translation whatsoever of any of the signs. If the Museum wants to attract more visitors per year, it should translate them. If they do not have a budget for this project, they could make a booklet in different languages (at least in the main European languages) which visitors could take with them along their visit and return on their way out. A second piece of advice: improve the gift shop and take things out of the glass cabinets! You are missing sales! Finally: get rid of the cavities exhibit! It doesn’t make much sense and it is not appealing to any eye. A special note about the young man who walks you in the Museum and introduces you to the exhibits. He took the challenge to make his full introduction in English and did an excellent job! I was very grateful! I think he needs to be promoted! :)

The museum tells you all about the history of 'Flipje Tiel' a local cartoon figure that became famous because of the Betuwe Jam. Also other levels of the museum represent the future of the Tiel region which is a bit dull but still interesting enough for the price paid (today entrance was free)!

The jam factory called "De Betuwe", a houshold name in the Netherlands for many years, has been taken over years ago, rebranded and relocated to somewhere else, but its symbol, the cartoon figure "Flipje" has stayed and is now symbol of the city of Tiel and the surrounding fruit orchards in this "Betuwe" area of the Gelderland province. This museum not only celebrates the "Flipje" figure, the cartoons and other paraphernalia, but a part of the jam factory had been reproduced to give insight in converting fruit into jam. Furthermore, a floor has been dedicated to the history of Tiel and another floor shown a collection, donated by a important family from Tiel. On the top floor is a small self service cafe, where a hot drink can be obtained from a machine by inserting a Euro coin. There is a nice view over the river. All floors are accessible by elevator. This is a charming museum, clearly put together and maintained with loving care. Entrance for a fee. Free entrance with the annual Dutch museum pass.

The museum might be full of useful information if you can understand Dutch. We couldn’t and everything is written in Dutch.

Very nice little museum with lots of historical information. Good to take kids to it. Also as a school outing it is a good insight to local knowledge.
