Djemila means beautiful in Arabic and no word can explain this place better. In perfect harmony with the nature around it, these ruins and the museum nearby are one of the most impressive old towns I have ever seen. Everyone in the group shared this...More

The Djemila (translation: beautiful) Roman ruins of the ancient city Cuicul are easily accessible by road from Constantine or Setif. Except for a few buildings, only the street paving and the foundations are preserved. That's why a guide is needed (they're not working on Tuesdays)...More

The environment is stunning as you approach either from Constantine or Sétif and the ruins themselves are awesome. World Heritage, it is impressive to see Roman architecture adapted to mountain conditions.

Have seen a lot of Roman ruins. These are up there with the very best. Plus the museum has wonderful mosaics. Timgad further south is also stunning. These had the edge for me possibly because I saw them first but also because the Romans chose...More

Firstly, one must visit the museum and study the maquette of the site, which clarifies enormously what one will see. There are also some excellent mosaics here. Then visit the site, going down one side all the way to the House of Europa and up...More

The ruins of an ancient Roman Empire city. Efforts must be made to ensure that the area is clean and well maintained.

A very astonishing spot located in the mountains, surrounded by valleys and springs. A site where you have to pay for parking, visiting the city and visiting the museum.
