Provide flashlights to view cage corners, nice especially at night. Allow multiple entries on same ticket. Quite small. Expensive for size. Friendly staff. Close to our hotel Poco a Poco. Nice to go back at night to see active frogs. Clean. Well tended.

It was a short and sweet visit, it is very small and not as exciting as I expected it to be. It was neat to see all the poisonous snakes and frogs, but there wasn't much atmosphere. The entry price for a Costa Rican national is far less than a outside visitor so that's a plus for the Ticos wanting... More

The Serpentario is a very interesting live snake and frog exhibit, but it only takes about 30 minutes to see everything, really well. The cost for an adult and 3 teens was $51, but the ticket was good for a return visit at night when some of the frogs and snakes were more active. I thought it was a bit... More

It's a small building full of snakes and spiders. It was worth strolling through, but seemed pretty expensive for what you actually got to do. It took us about 45 minutes to enjoy it.

For the price of admission ($15US) you get a daytime visit and a nighttime visit (to better see both diurnal & nocturnal creatures in action, although being reptiles some of the snakes seem to sleep 24/7). You don't have to return on the same day either; we came back for the PM part of our ticket two days later and... More

I'm not the greatest fan of snakes but the talk we received at the start of the visit was excellent. All the reptiles are in glass fronted boxes with lights that cab be turned on temporarily so you can try and spot them. It's very creepy but you can't look away...

The staff was friendly, and they hosted quite a bit more animals than I had expected to see. We stopped to talk to one of the staff, and all animals are collected under permit and well-cared for. Animals were easy to see. The exhibits are all in the dark, with light switches that you only turn on while looking for... More

We visited here with our 5 year old son during the day for the first visit. You get to see many of the native species of snakes and frogs as well as some turtles and tarantulas. There are several members of staff on hand and they are all very knowledgable. There is an education room with samples of snake skin,... More

The people who work here are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the reptiles and amphibians of the region they are mostly bilingual (at least on the topics of snakes and lizards). Your ticket is good for a day and a nighttime visit. They provide flashlights for aid in locating the specimens. Nice little gift shop too.

We really happened on this spot by accident while walking from our hotel to town. What a great find! The presentation of the animals in terraria with good explanatory material was useful, but when we made a second trip which our ticket entitled us to to see the more nocturnal species, our guide's obvious love of her subject and descriptive...
